The new beatles song has made me sad

My dad was a massive Beatles fan. Absolutely obsessed. My whole life we would listen to the albums and they were the soundtrack to my childhood. We were very close and him and my mum lived roiund the corner until he died unexpectedly last year of a massive heart attack. I'm mostly ok now and life is moving on but today hearing that new song has absolutely gutted me. Knowing there's a Beatles song that he'll never get to hear makes me so sad. Everyone at work was excited talking about it and I just wanted to go cry. There are so many times I miss him but for some reason this one has really got me. Don't know why I'm posting really just needed to get it out there.

I know exactly how you feel. My mum was a massive ABBA fan, they were the soundtrack to my childhood and teens like the Beatles were to yours. We recently went to see their Voyage thing in London - it was so sad knowing that she’ll never see it and I know she would have absolutely loved it. It’s these sort of things that just catch you out when you’re least expecting it and the feeling of loss hits you again.

It's so sad isn't it and it comes out of nowhere at times.

I am sorry you feel sad.

My dad and I didn’t have a good relationship but he died earlier this year and I am reminded of him with this song. He still kept the ticket stubs from seeing The Beatles live at the Cavern Club.

We didn’t have much in common other than genes and taste in music. Losing people and being reminded is part of life but no less difficult for that.

There have been lots of beatles songs on the radio today. And so lots of tears from me!

Exactly the same feeling. I cried when I heard it yesterday. Its been almost 20 years since he died but it still made me feel sad. I think he would have loved it.

My dm and my aunties were all/still are big beatles fans. One of my aunties is a huge John Lennon fan. She still now will get choked if we chat about him. The beatles remain a big part of some people's lives. Music stirs a lot of memories x

I've ordered a vinyl copy of the single. And when it arrives I shall take it to my mums and make sure his collection is complete. He was so proud of his records that it doesn't feel right knowing one is missing.
