Buying into a franchise

I'm just looking for people's experiences of buying into a franchise. It is something that I'm considering as I want a change in career and would like to be my own boss. The franchises I am looking at relate to my field of work and experience, however I don't know anything about running or setting up my own business so I thought maybe buying into a franchise could be a way of getting started?

I decided not to with the particular ones I was looking at and have been taking my time finding the right thing. I think I have now found it so I'm in the very early stages of signing up!

Sorry to revive an old post but curious about how things are going? My DH is desperate to invest in a franchise but we haven't yet found anything that I think seems legit. So terrifying to invest hard-earned money into something with little guarantee.
