Carers allowance

Iv asked in the carers section , but
I have had no replies .

I have been awarded middle rate DLA for my child . I can now apply for carers allowance , since I earn so little . Does anyone know how long it takes for them to process this ?

5 weeks here when I phoned they said it was just still processing the anxiety is killing me too! X

I totally understand I'm nearly on 7 weeks but I rang and they still telling to wait I could cry honestly it's so stressful

Mine took 3 weeks, I actually got the backpay through and then a letter a couple of days later to say I'd been awarded.

@changedusernameforthis1 do you mine if I ask how much they back date it to? As Google says 3 months but some people have been back dated from when dla started x

Hi I was called by carers allowance on the 26th March to confirm bank details, he then said to wait 10 days for letter which I have not received. I presumed I would be getting a payment but nothing as yet . How long does it take to be awarded first payment as I heard you get payment before letter. I called on Friday to ask and was told they couldn't tell me and had to wait on the letter.

maximum backdate for carers allowance is 12 weeks. Carers element of Universal credit can be backdated further.

Hi I made a claim for carers allowance back in February 2024 when I finished work in January. I phoned them up in April and they told me my I had to send in my p45 which my old boss hasn't issued and has ignored all my messages requesting my p45. I told carers allowance this aswell. I'm now currently on week 14 does anyone know how long it will take without the evidence that they have requested
