Does interview order make any difference?

I’ve been offered an interview for a job, there are only two of us being interviewed.

I’ve been offered both slots to see which one I want, two days apart.

Would you go first or second? Or do you think it makes no difference? (I am obviously overthinking this but I want this job so badly every little helps right?!)

I go second. Best to be fresh in their mind when they make the decision

Ultimately they will review notes and scores though so either shouldn't go against you

Generally first or last is considered best, but yes, it will be fairly objectively scored anyway. And in my experience, we always do pretty much go into interviews knowing who the strongest candidate is. In your case, you'll be either first or last, but I'd probably take the 2nd date so you have more time to prepare and you don't have to wait around waiting for the decision. I interviewed for a position a few weeks ago and they had to cancel the 2nd day of interviews because someone on the panel got ill. It added an extra week and a half of waiting after my interview for a decision, which was annoying.

It doesn't matter. My last 2 jobs my interviews were firmly in the middle of a full day. If you stand out, you stand out.

Apparently straight after the interviewers have had lunch is statistically the best time.

I'd go with second, though with only two of you I doubt it'd make a huge amount of difference.

Good luck!

Ditto last poster make sure neither you nor they are hungry. Think about your circadian rhythms- what time of day do you feel most energetic?
