Which credit card?

I've never had a credit card before but recently have been thinking that I should use a rewards card for day to day spending, paying it off in full each month. I've had a look at some options but there's so much information out there and I'd love some real life advice. I've checked pre-approval on MSE and Experian and I'll be fine with whichever option I pick in that regard. American Express seems very popular but I'm concerned about the restrictions on where it's accepted, is that much of an issue? I'm thinking petrol, online shopping, shopping in store and general expenses rather than big purchases.
Rewards wise, I'm less interested in flights/holidays and more cashback or vouchers. I don't have any balances to transfer but an interest free period on spending would be a plus! Please tell me why you love your rewards credit card.

I have a BA Amex and the black NatWest card, you pay for it but you get great cash back, loads of different perks including access into airport lounges.
