Can anyone recommend a West End show suitable for teen boys? Thanks

I've not seen it personally but I've heard good things about the Back to the Future musical.

Peepshowcreepshow · 01/11/2023 21:59

(Unhelpful response incoming) depends entirely on the boy really... I LOVED Hamilton, as did my teenage DD.

Le Mis.
Hamilton.

The book of Morman is hilarious, I'd 100% recommend it for a teenager. You can usually find a couple of the songs online to get the idea of it, but it's very very funny and easy to understand.

Terfosaurus · 01/11/2023 22:04

Back to The Future was amazing.
Hamilton

To be fair my teen boys love all the musicals. They've seen a lot and want to see pretty much everything else.

jippy2s · 01/11/2023 22:05

Taking my teen to see Stranger Things (possibly doesn't count as West End?!) and Woman in black although that's touring. He's seen Wicked, I think he'd like Hamilton and Back to the Future too but not been with him.

ThinkingAgainAndAgain · 01/11/2023 22:08

Hamilton is in a class of its own and perfect for them, I’d say.

minipie · 01/11/2023 22:10

Book of Mormon is really hilarious in parts and offensively, datedly (if that’s a word) racist in other parts. Not sure how a teen would react tbh.

The Play that Goes Wrong is fun.

This is supposed to be excellent, or their other production the Gunpowder Plot.

I would recommend Dear England- now running in the West End. It's excellent.

Singleandproud · 01/11/2023 23:11

We saw the Ocean at the End of the Lane when it was on tour, ir was a little darker than most plays we've seen so crowd was teens and up, fantastic puppetry, a great cast and Charlie Brooks is a fabulous baddie in it. It isn't a comedy but it is very good and written by Neil Gaiman if he is a fan of his

Wishitsnows · 01/11/2023 23:12

The play that goes wrong and the Book of Mormon

MrsSkylerWhite · 01/11/2023 23:12

Our’s loved Hamilton and Les Mis.

Falzarega · 01/11/2023 23:15

Back to the Future is fantastic and one of the few musicals that’s aimed at boys.

ThinkingAgainAndAgain · 02/11/2023 08:55

Dear England is absolutely brilliant, my 15yo loved it.

Eh?

We have recently seen Operation Mincemeat and we all loved it. Hamilton is great. Play that goes wrong also went down well.

KatBurglar · 02/11/2023 09:15

Play That Goes Wrong and all the other Goes Wrong shows (Magic, Christmas, Peter Pan) were big hits with our teen lads.

The Curious Incident was the one they talk about most fondly, even years later.

They loved Hamilton but were familiar with the songs beforehand, so could easily follow the plot.

Book Of Mormon was a big hit with one of them, the others weren’t as keen. You can tell it was written by the South Park writers, so if they like that they should like BoM.
