Feeling sick after eating salt?

Sunday morning I made mushrooms on toast, had to lay down as i suddenly felt really sick and had a salty taste (I had added one grind so not much). Couldn't finish them.

This morning I'm eating boiled eggs and I love a little salt with them. Got to the end and had an overwhelming feeling I was going to throw up. Thankfully I drank some water and now feel fine.

What's that all about??

This happens to me too. Intermittently but it is horrible. I’m actually sick sometimes.

Salted caramel and salted chocolate always make me feel like this, but recently it has happened with garlic mushroom pizza and roast dinner!

No idea what causes it or where it started but I feel for you!

ps I am not pregnant. Is it possible you are?

I feel bleurgh eating salt if I'm not well hydrated to start with... Could it be that?

This happens to me as well. Any salt on a meal and I throw up. Never used to happen, it just started a few years ago. No idea why. It's a pain in the neck.

I really hope I'm not pregnant! Think it's unlikely as dh has had the snip and I have a coil so am going to focus on the others that this has happened too and not the thought of another baby 🤣.

Really interesting it has happened to others, seems to be only when I add it on top not if it's been used in cooking.

I spoke to a neurologist about this (he's a friend, I wasn't raising a medical issue) and he said it's very common and that overwhelming nausea after eating is often a 'brain malfunction' thing rather than a gut thing. Can't remember the details but I'm going to message him and ask now!

Ooh thank you. I'd be interested to hear what he says!

It's odd that it's so overwhelming and then immediately disappears!!

I get it all the time, so does my dad. I know exactly what you mean. An overwhelming feeling of 'oh shit I'm going to vomit' and it just disappears. I usually have to down a glass of water and it goes.
