I have a charming suitor but cannot decide whether to marry him. He is so kind to the less fortunate, and helps me over puddles on our walks. However, he takes laudanum daily and spends the evening playing card games with n'er-do-wells. He binge-watches plays and at times is not home until the nightwatchman retires. He has written to me asking for my hand in marriage, and has told me he has a wife in Wales who is shut up in an asylum due to being diagnosed with female insanity. However, nobody else need know about this sad case once we are married. Should I accept him?
