Late grandmothers - in the shape of a stork with the baby in the belly!

I wondered if they were for cutting grapes?

the blade is quite flat with ridges

I was thinking for cutting the umbilical cord! 🤔

Umbilical cord clamp. Search on google images.

That’s what I thought. They’re certainly clamps of some kind because they don’t have cutting blades like scissors. And the bit at the bottom looks like a catch to lock them shut.

i had ruled that out as it seemed a bit grim tbh but the baby is a give away I suppose!!!

thank you all!

That's amazing 😍
Do you have any idea why she had them?
Was she s midwife or nurse? X

Bruisername · 31/10/2023 18:58

She was a nurse but these seem very decorative!

I think they're beautiful, I'd would have to display them 😍

Bruisername · 31/10/2023 20:11

They are lovely in detail - the lizards so they can stand up are cute. I’m not sure how you would display them!

They are gorgeous, you could mount them in a shadow box. My grandmother used to display shadow boxes with things like this and a photo of the relative it belonged to.

Lifeetc · 31/10/2023 20:22

@junbean that's a great idea x

Lifeetc · 31/10/2023 20:24

@Bruisername maybe something like this....
