I'm quite enjoying this Halloween...

Or, rather, the associated sweets! I'm currently sat giggling at a mouthful of popping candy while the girls answer the door to the very few trick or treaters we've had this evening 🤣

We've not had a single one yet, but it is absolutely bucketing down and freezing out so not surprised

caramond · 31/10/2023 18:41

Lots of trick or treaters here! Opened the door probably 15 times so far and most are groups of 3+ kids.

Kangarude · 31/10/2023 18:44

We’ve had loads. DH answered the last knock and said it must have been a school trip, as there were about 30 forming an orderly queue on the drive 😂

We've had about 100 trick or treaters so far - heartbreaking because all of the sweets I had my eye on are gone 😭 😭

shellyleppard · 31/10/2023 18:47

Should have put them in a safe place LoL..... that's what I did 😂😂

DH is quite anti so it's not happening here. I'm half Canadian and we celebrated when I was a kid 50+ years ago (never trick or treating but always a party).

No DC in this house.

Last time we bought sweets for it no one knocked (and we are in a perfect road for it) but we didn't have any decorations and didn't realise the "rules" had changed 🙄

lucysmam · 31/10/2023 18:55

@shellyleppard they are in my belly a safe place 🤣

I've stopped eating them now but the remains are likely to be divided three ways shortly when I go for a shower. I don't think the girls will answer without me down here.

Enjoy the spoils or Halloween lol taking it in turns to answer the door with my 18 year old son.....we just have someone knock dressed as a t rex!!!

pilates · 31/10/2023 19:07

Brings back happy memories for me - mine are too old now 😞 I did buy some sweets but we have no pumpkin out so we probably won’t get any knocks

Finteq · 31/10/2023 19:08

We haven't had any knocking at all.

Put the bucket outside. But no one seems tp be taking anything.

What time should I bring it in?

So still knocking then

We knocked on someone's door around half 6 and he said most of the sweets were gone

RabbitsRock · 31/10/2023 19:11

Raining here ( has been heavy) & no callers yet, although we’re on a fairly main road so never get more than a handful. I’m much more for Christmas than Halloween.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 31/10/2023 19:13

I got watermelon flavour popping candy, which I've never tasted before. I mean, my son got it, but I am eating it Grin

CyberCritical · 31/10/2023 19:13

Door hasn't stopped knocking since 5pm, constant stream, every time I think it might be slowing down someone else knocks. Luckily we bought many many many sweets.

MsPolly · 31/10/2023 19:16

I'm so annoyed. Had loads of little trick or treaters who were all v polite. Had to put my lo to bed so left sweets out in less than two minutes a group of kids cleared out the entire bowl - with parents and they didn't bat an eyelid

EasterMummie · 31/10/2023 19:16

We got trick or treaters from 5.45- 7pm (mostly 6-6.30)
Its been raining & is a midweek day so not as many as other years but still a good turn out.

wideawakeinthemiddleofthenightagain · 31/10/2023 19:19

I had more secondary school kids than I did primary which surprised me.
I had a cute boy of about 3 whose dagger I admired and he told me it was because he was scared of the dark so he didn't want to come out but it would keep him safe.

SanFranBear · 31/10/2023 19:24

I always love Halloween - teen DD out with a friend so me and DS home. He's manning the door (and ensuring only one sweet per t&t'er) and I'm keeping an eye on our pumpkins as one keeps going out.

Not as busy as I expected but we've got rid of about 75ish sweets (and still got a few drumsticks left which make me very happy!)

Probably my favourite holiday and we don't really go all out - I just love the silliness of it, the cute kids and LOVE carving pumpkins!!

BitofaStramash · 31/10/2023 19:25

We've had queues

NewmummyJ · 31/10/2023 19:28

First time in our new house (and living in a house as an adult) so wasn't sure how much to buy... I thought 40+ sweets/chocolates would be plenty... I didnt want loads left over. Turns out I massively undeestimated.... and after the last group of 11 (11!!) children we were cleared out... in fact the 11th child had nothing as we were all out... We've had to hurriedly bring in the pumpkin and switch all the lights off...
Lesson learnt!

BeyondMyWits · 31/10/2023 19:31

We've had loads this year, DH at the door again as I type!. I think it is because it is quite mild and dry here. We'll take in the pumpkins at 8.

PumpkinSpiceSeason · 31/10/2023 19:43

Didn't bother because I assumed it would be a washout. My upstairs neighbour has had loads. His door is the one trick or treaters see- I either need to stand at the gate or lure them back to mine- so I haven't had any knocks luckily!

Appledrop · 31/10/2023 19:50

We thought we would put an M&S light up pumpkin in the bedroom this year to show we were in! Had one set of trick or treaters almost straight away and then straight after, nothing, even though the street seemed full of them. Tried moving the pumpkin downstairs but next doors bush is too high to see it so bunged it back upstairs. We bought an awful lot of sweets/chocs etc and was worried they were not going to go. 2.5hrs later and a whole load of older girls turned up and I said to them to take handfuls, they certainly didn't need asking twice. Anyway, they took the lot so I am happy and it's now quiet in the street and raining. 😂

Iris1976 · 31/10/2023 19:53

We've had more than ever, ran out within first hour, sent out for more provisions, they are gone as are all the kids snack bags and breakfast bars in cupboards, only crisps left to give now but seems to have gone quiet finally
