Any microscope advice? Christmas present

Can anyone sciency help?

My DS has asked for a microscope for Christmas. He has one already, but says it isn’t good enough. Its maximum magnification is x400.

He’d ideally like to be able to take pictures from with a tablet/phone.

I would ideally be able to get something fairly robust. He seems fairly fixed on science as a passion, so I imagine it will be used for quite a while.

The selection is overwhelming. I don’t know if there is any real advantage to binocular ones?

I was hoping to spend around £200.

You can buy special attachments to take the photos which you attach to your phone

I had a microscope when I was younger and it came in a box with slides and loads of brilliant things to look at

I'll have a look at work if I remember and look at the brand names

Get him to have a look at the brands they use at school as a point of reference
