Where can I take DS for Christmas?

I will be spending Christmas without my family for the first time since I was born!

I'd like to take DS somewhere for Christmas Day itself and a couple of days before and after. I considered Paris.

Nothing too pricey as on a budget. DS is 5 btw.

I'd love some good suggestions!

Were you looking at abroad specifically or could it be UK based?

Centre Parcs winter wonderland is really lovely for children and they have breaks over Christmas - it is around the £1k mark but if you were considering Paris I’d imagine that’s around the same?

Lille is beautiful at Christmas, easy to get to on Eurostar and really affordable (we usually stay at the Novotel across the road from the station, the family rooms have fridges microwaves). Great Christmas markets but other good things to do eg museums, parks etc.

Bluestone in Wales is great!

I highly recommend Rome. It was so Christmassy, we did a really fun golf cart tour the kids loved. Brilliant food.

Butlins! We're not typical Butlins people but they really do Christmas well. If you are able to get an apartment do that - as it's only 2 meals a day and you might need some top ups, and if you can't run to an apartment then try and get a suite as you will have a bedroom each and somewhere to sit and watch telly. The good is good and plentiful with plenty of choice, and of course there is entertainment as well.

Jet2holidays have a few options in Spain and Portugal for 23 to 26 December from about £600.

In Spain at least, the main part of Christmas is not until 5/6 January, so if you go somewhere with a lot going on, there should be plenty open, except perhaps on the 25th. If you were self catering, you'd have to plan to make sure you can eat, but you'd be able to play on the beach, play parks and get easy supermarket food like pizza.
