What are your Yr5 boys into?

My DS is considering starting school again after a few years of Home Ed.

From keeping up playdates with a few old schoolfriends I've noticed that a lot of the Home Ed children seem to have 'gentler' or 'younger' interests than the schooled children of the same age, and tend to be far less brand aware.

What sorts of toys/shows/brands etc might my DS have missed out on that the school children will likely all be into? Is there a particular coat/bag he will need?

He is very fluent on Minecraft and watches various famous YouTube channels related to that, has some Pokemon cards and reads fiction books aimed at his age group, but doesn't play many other computer games/watch much TV at present.

Mine likes to watch but not play football, watch Horrible Histories & Operation Ouch, build Lego, read Storey Treehouse/David Walliams/Roald Dahl. Plus the things you have mentioned. Not bothered about branded clothes etc, although happy if he gets Nike/Adidas hand-me-downs from brothers or friends.

a young year 5 (young in the year group and young for his age!). Doesn't do computer games, nintendo etc. Loves lego, cycling, swimming and the great outdoors. Just getting into star wars characters (mostly driven by younger brother though) and goes with the flow a bit with regards to football but probably only does so to keep up with his mates, I don't think he's really that interested in it and he doesn't like playing. Prioritises comfort over brand labels!
