To support the work that the Royal British Legion do.

Nobody around here seems to be wearing one.

Not this year. I have my reasons and I support a number of charities.

YourWinter · 29/10/2023 20:02

I will, from 1 November.

ehb102 · 29/10/2023 20:02

Yes. I was so aghast by the lack of poppies here I volunteered this year.

My child is the first generation in a hundred years not to be touched by World War I. War trauma lasts.

Parker231 · 29/10/2023 20:03

I wear a white poppy.

AgaMM · 29/10/2023 20:05

No. Its meaning has changed from honouring the lives of those lost in the world wars to blindly supporting the British military even when they are the aggressor. It has also been hijacked by the far right unfortunately which is another reason that puts people off.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 29/10/2023 20:05

yes

mpsw · 29/10/2023 20:05

I will, but even though the RBL has started selling, I won't do so until November

But as I seem to shred/lose poppies at quite a rate, it's more likely to be a wristband than a normal paper poppy

PurpleChrayne · 29/10/2023 20:07

I donate but don't wear the poppy.

I refuse to be compelled to wear anything, as it goes against the ethos of why the Great War was fought.

Catscatscatscatscatscats · 29/10/2023 20:07

Yes...of course

Orangewall · 29/10/2023 20:07

I will probably have one on a coat but with the weather being so mild probably won’t be seen to be wearing one. I do feel similarly to @AgaMM though.

FlorenceBoot · 29/10/2023 20:08

No. Nor will I be going out iof my way to observe the two minutes silence. The World Wars were a long time ago.

IsadoraQuagmire · 29/10/2023 20:09

Of course I will.

43ontherocksporfavor · 29/10/2023 20:09

Yes closer to 11/11.

FiveShelties · 29/10/2023 20:10

Of course.

RoseInBloome7 · 29/10/2023 20:10

Of course

PuttingDownRoots · 29/10/2023 20:10

Its not Remembrance Sunday for two weeks. Even the military don't wear them until November...

I support the work that the RBL does and now is a good time for reflecting on the pointlessness of war

UnderwaterSpaceCadet · 29/10/2023 20:11

No. I gave up when people started judging others for not wearing one.

FlorenceBoot · 29/10/2023 20:12

Why are people parroting "of course"?
It's not compulsory, you know.

Fishandchipsatthebeach · 29/10/2023 20:12

Yes. And my 5 year old has one too (her choice, didn’t force it upon her)

Snugglemonkey · 29/10/2023 20:12

No

thingsthatmakeyougohmmmmmmmm · 29/10/2023 20:12

Interesting to hear your views, my parents were teenagers in ww2. Dad helped in the rubble of his town as a teenager, mum was on sand bucket duty to cover the incendiary bombs that dropped.
I want to support the legion in all they do for people who serve.

No, never have and never will. The judgement to those who don’t is ridiculous. And it’s glorifying warfare.

SpuddyMary · 29/10/2023 20:13

Parker231 · 29/10/2023 20:03

I wear a white poppy.

Me too.

BCCoach · 29/10/2023 20:13

I don’t do virtue signalling but happy to donate.

PinkRoses1245 · 29/10/2023 20:13

We shouldn’t need charities to support those who’ve served. The government should do that
