Health anxiety at its peak this morning

I have awful health anxiety, I think the worst the second I get. Any kind of ache or twinge.

this time it’s because I’ve had a niggling sharp/pinching ‘pain’ in my groin for a few days. It comes and goes and I think it happen when I move the leg a certain way. Realistically I think it’s just a trapped nerve but I can’t switch my brain off from thinking it’s something terrible. Im shaking and I feel sick from worry. I’ve been awake for hours thinking about it.

it’s nothing to be worried about right?

I would reassure you that it sounds like a nothingness, but the last thing you need is reassurance.

Reassurance seeking is what feeds HA.

I do totally understand, this time 2 years ago I was entirely crippled by HA.

I would highly recommend CBT.

All the best OP

Thanks @geniap I used to go to CBT for generalised anxiety and social phobia but I haven’t been in so many years.

It’s a good idea though, I remember it working really well and it got me able to leave the house without returning home within 10 minutes. I’ll message my GP today and request a referral again. It’s really starting to affect my life now.

I had very bad health anxiety. (It sometimes still niggles me) When it was at its peak a couple of years ago I found Joshua Fletchers books/ podcast (anxiety Josh) the most helpful. It explains what the anxiety does to your body, which makes you have ‘symptoms’. Also it will get better today, it’s often worse in the early morning, I think (?) because cortisol is higher. I am sorry though- it’s horrible.

That's interesting re cortisol
