I've not managed to see it, @AlviarinAesSedai . One year it came. Nowhere near us. It passes us twice, this year but whether we mooch along to the hospital will depend upon the weather. Tuesday is promising if the weather behaves itself. It's the last day of term for DS2 so we'll probably have fish and chips rather than me having to cook my usual 3 different meals, anyhow (if the car actially passes its MOT)

AlviarinAesSedai · 13/12/2023 23:38

I hope the stars align for Tuesday. Plus good luck for the MOT.

Anyone see the hilarious review of the Santa experience at Metro Centre on Facebook. The shoeless, half hearted bearded Santa.
I never paid to see Santa, my poor children only got to see him free at play group or later school.

Winwit · 14/12/2023 08:39

Apparently Santa called in sick and a random stepped in so the kids wouldn’t be disappointed. But had no shoes to wear and really no idea how to be a Santa. It was a nice thought but didn’t consider that for such a high price it needs to meet certain standards.

AlviarinAesSedai · 14/12/2023 11:39

@Winwit thanks, it was such a funny review. But you are right, if you are paying for a service activity you want what you paid for.

PickAChew · 14/12/2023 17:33

We have wheels again :)

Santa was on Northumberland street, today. Myst have lost his sleigh license as he had travelled there by Stagecoach bus, though maybe he was showing off his green credentials, as he was wearing green. And quite slim.

AlviarinAesSedai · 16/12/2023 22:06

The guests have left P&R, yeah.
Went to Arnison today, never again. The Fire station open day looked very popular.

We took advantage of the free buses on Friday and caught the X10 from Newcastle to Dalton park...

What's it like now? We used to go regularly when visiting my auntie in Seaham, I heard it was up for improvements.

PickAChew · 19/12/2023 18:50

Not as many good shops as there used to be, @SinnerBoy - even some of the outdoor shops have gone.

Santa’s tracking on the GNE app 😃

Anyone else had the powergrid weather warning texts?

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/12/2023 19:44

Yes I get them and from the water board

Whiskeypowers · 20/12/2023 20:14

It’s been windier than this and I didn’t receive them!
oh well 😬

Someaddedsugar · 20/12/2023 20:24

We haven't had a message from anyone yet. We were in Harrogate earlier and it was really windy. The A1 wasn't that nice on the way back either!

PickAChew · 20/12/2023 21:05

The weather warning is for tomorrow.

TheTruthAboutLove · 20/12/2023 21:30

I live right next to Dalton Park and it’s an absolute nightmare for everyone who lives in Murton or Seaham every single weekend!
The roads are laid out so badly with traffic backed up onto the A19 every week, standing still in a live lane, one day we’ll have a serious accident. it desperately needs another entrance and exit - same as the Arnison Centre!

I haven’t been for months because I can’t be bothered with it but they’ve got a couple of new restaurants and a Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger which is an improvement. York Designer Outlet is always my preferred destination though, much better choice of shops and overall a better shopping experience.

PickAChew · 20/12/2023 21:57

It's less cold, too, @TheTruthAboutLove !

Winwit · 21/12/2023 09:03

York designer outlet has much more high end brands. Margaret Howell, Paul Smith, Dr Martens, Reiss, Hobbs. Dalton Park has Bonmarche, Grape Tree and Fat Face - not on the same level at all. I live closer to Dalton Park but I’d much rather drive 2hrs to York, they just have crap at Dalton Park. Wish they would get the decent stores that York has!

xsquared · 24/12/2023 14:50

If you're in Durham, have a look atthe nacreous clouds now if you missed it on Thursday.

PickAChew · 24/12/2023 16:44

Damn, I missed them, again. Too busy trying to solve the GCHQ Christmas card!

Someaddedsugar · 24/12/2023 18:00

Amazing photo @xsquared!

I tried to solve it last night @PickAChew - I only managed the gift tags question 😂

AlviarinAesSedai · 24/12/2023 18:02

We saw it. DD took a great photo.
Whats the GCHQ Christmas card?
Merry Christmas everyone 🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻🎄

Someaddedsugar · 24/12/2023 18:03

www.gchq.gov.uk/news/xmaschallenge2023 @AlviarinAesSedai - they put out an annual challenge and I always think I'll manage it but have never finished one!

OP posts:
Someaddedsugar · 24/12/2023 18:04

And merry Christmas everyone! Hope you all have lovely days xx

AlviarinAesSedai · 24/12/2023 18:09

Thanks @Someaddedsugar . That looks hard.
I did the book quiz this year and completed and enjoyed.
I think I’m doing well if I get 4 answers correct on ‘Only Connect’
Give me food/tv/film questions.

AlviarinAesSedai · 24/12/2023 18:10

We had armed police in village today, so exciting. Talk of the village.
