Is Chester worth a day out?

Just that really! Haven’t been for years and years and was thinking of going next week with the kids for some shopping and to have a general look around! Is it a good day trip out? I’m about an hourish away and kids are 8 and 14.

I left the kids with my parents and went for a day out for my birthday recently. It was lovely just bumbling around and eating some lovely food. There is a new street food market hall, but it was incredibly busy. I'm not sure my DDs 8&10 would have enjoyed it, although we would have probably done the walls and a boat if they were there

Chester is just like any other city/town centre to me just a bit more local.
