Can you suggest some cafes and restaurants in Liverpool for a gluten-free vegetarian?

My wife and I are celebrating our 25th anniversary of getting together with a couple of days in Liverpool.

we are both vegetarian and I am also gluten free.

I spent a lot of time in Liverpool 30 years ago and have fond memories of the Bluecoat and some old style vegetarian cafes.

Can anyone recommend some good places that will cater for our needs please? I have looked on TripAdvisor and have a list but thought MNetters would be the best resource. ☺️

I've never visited Liverpool but I downloaded an app called Coeliac Sanctuary that has a map and reviews of Gluten Free friendly places to eat. It was invaluable on my trip to London last month. It has a picture of a seal as it's icon.

Maray has some lovely vegetarian dishes, not sure how much is gluten free but the menus are online.

Seconding Lunya. It's delicious - never had a bad meal there.

You could also look at Maray or Mowgli and see if the menu would suit you.

Bundobust is also great but at the casual end.

Mowgli definitely suits both vegetarian and gluten free

Sorry - seen you are there for a couple of days. When I was replying I hit it into my head you wanted an fancy anniversary meal.

Also have a look at Baron 84 on Bold St - great Persian food my vegetarian niece loves.

Thank you all, I will look at your suggestions.

I loved Bold Street. I was talking to my son and he said, You always made us go to a shop with a lot of Chinese food and unusual things to eat. Mattas is still there, I can't wait!
That and News to Nowhere take me back to a fab time in my life 💖

Hi all!
Thank you again for your suggestions.
We arrived in Liverpool today.
The River of Light art installation has lit up the Waterfront and we followed the trail this evening.
Then we ate at Maray Dockside; it was lovely. I couldn't recommend it more highly. Excellent food, interesting drinks, pleasant atmosphere and lovely servers.I managed to put a meal together even though there weren't any GF options.
A perfect anniversary celebration 💖

We are researching the options for tomorrow. We have a lot to pack in as Storm Ciarán hits UK on Thursday so for that day we are planning museums and art galleries and several stops in various pubs.

Wednesday we are going to the Knowledge Quarter, the Georgian Quarter, Hope Street and the Cathedrals, the Philharmonic and Ye Hole in Ye Wall, then a walk down Bold Street.
We will breakfast at Browns as we received gift tokens, they cater for GF so all good.

Again my thanks to you all.
More suggestions welcome if any other cafes, pubs and restaurants that meet the criteria come to mind.☺️
