I need to be in a different headspace! DD14 has her girlfriend to stay & it’s so hard to deal with as they both have complex needs.

I took my 13 year old son and his friends into town and it was lovely. They are so nice and funny, on the way there they were singing Chinese propaganda songs, I never found out why. They spent over an hour in IKEA pretending they lived in all the rooms and taking selfies, we had lunch and they invited me to sit with them. They are fabulous young people and I had a lovely day.

I like that pumpkins are in the shops, and I enjoyed pumpkin carving this week.

I like grey rainy days.

I like marks and Spencer socks, and enjoyed wearing my pair with bicycles

Life is hard. I do find thinking of good stuff helps.

Oh, for 99p I often find books on kindle that I enjoy.

I bought one today

It’s Black Cat Day today. Have a look online for photos of black cats. The best kind of cat, especially in the run up to Halloween. Not biased at all 😂

Ozgirl75 · 27/10/2023 19:30

i watched a film with my 13 and 11 year old and at the end they both hugged me in a big crush and told me they loved me 🥰
We also had one of their friends to stay and he was LOVELY! Such a sweet and funny kid, with just such a funny old fashioned turn of phrase.

I cleaned the Velux windows in my loft. I’ve live here for 19 years and hadn’t realise you can flip them over to get to them. They were absolutely filthy and it was so satisfying! Now in lovely hot bath with spendy bath oil.

WeighDownOnMe · 27/10/2023 19:33

I bought new fluffy socks in primark and my kids spent an hour together without bickering.

I called The King who is going to make a national proclamation, because this literally never happens.

Well - I felt really bad on Wednesday and half of Thursday, but all better now 😊. Our Morrison's delivery came this afternoon and everything was on it!
I have just had a lovely meal lovingly prepared by my husband, of turkey fricassee made from the leftover turkey and ham after Christmas and frozen, with rice and carrots. (Those were freshly cooked).
I found a silver chain in my jewellery box that will replace the chain for the very expensive pendant my sisters bought me a few months ago that broke
I am no longer in lots of pain from my surgery and have managed to get down to virtually no pain killers at all - which is great!
I finally managed to get reconnected to my work's IT network after a month, so I can attend the team meeting on Monday (Virtually - I have been ill so out of action since the end of June - and they are a lovely lot)
I am happy at the moment. I have my elderly cat next to me and my elderly husband next to her. I am warm and comfortable.

I can understand how stressed you must feel at the moment, and I hope you are able to relax later.

Thunderinglightly · 27/10/2023 19:42

I have and ancient cat and a getting on a bit husband next to me on the sofa too @DilemmaDelilah ! They make me very happy 😊
@RabbitsRock it sounds like you have your hands full so I'm sending you a big hug. I hope the girls are having a lovely evening.

DustyRhodesYell · 27/10/2023 19:49

1.) I bought a small bottle of Merlot on my deliveroo and they sent a full size bottle instead, for £2.50!
2.) DS is having a friend to sleepover and the friend said I made 'the best pizza ever'.
3.) I finally received my student card, bring on the discounts
4.) mum invited me for a Sunday roast so I won't have to cook or do housework that day
5.) the family is finally nit free!

fivetriangulartrees · 27/10/2023 20:10

After a stressful few months, we both took a day off work while the kids were out and finally had time to play the game that DP bought us for Christmas. I played while the cat sat on my lap for a lovely cuddle. (And I won.)

Fahbeep · 27/10/2023 20:20

I'm laying on the floor. I do it every night. I'm waiting for DS7 to go to sleep. He has ASD and is fearful on his own. DD9 won't go to bed on her own because she thinks it's unfair. I post on MN, look at Marketplace, and read features on News sites. It can take anywhere from 15 mins to 2 hours 🙄. I wonder if I will miss it when it ends. All things end (in the end). I might by a Euromillions ticket.

Distracting enough? Stream of consciousness 👍

Aozora13 · 27/10/2023 20:21

My kids were getting on my last nerve so I dragged them out on a “pumpkin hunt” which was basically just an exasperated walk round the neighbourhood but with Halloween branding. Turned out to be really fun. Oh and I’m being headhunted for a Big Important Job which I in no way want, but it’s nice to be asked. Good luck w teens OP.

RabbitsRock · 27/10/2023 20:22

Thanks lovely people xxx

My cats ate my breakfast.

I love them though. They are only seven months but are totally batshit. They like to be in the same room as me at all times.

If one gets a cuddle the others are jealous and try to push him out and I wind up with multiple cats sitting on me.

Kindlethefourth · 27/10/2023 20:36

I got my old job back. I never wanted to leave it. I can't wait to start.
