What are you ordering from the Chinese takeaway

Whatashittyweek · 27/10/2023 18:07

we’ve just ordered

pork dumplings
sweet & sour balls (the kids love these otherwise I wouldn’t bother)
XO Rice
Prawn Crackers

this is for 2 adults & 2 4 year olds. I’m so hungry my mouth is watering just typing that out

what are you ordering tonight?

ps the 4 year olds have already technically had their dinner but they’ll definitely want to get in on the action 😂

Vietnamese Pancake Rolls
Pork Dumplings
Ribs
Quarter crispy duck and pancakes
Large special chow mein

TomatoSandwiches · 27/10/2023 18:51

Singapore rice noodles with kung po King prawn and spare ribs.

FoodMishap · 27/10/2023 18:53

Egg fried rice
salt and chilli squid

Tofu something or other
Chinese greens if they do them - not mixed veg though, never - can’t stand the baby sweetcorn that ends up in it.
Fried chicken with pineapple and honey sauce (for DD but I nick a bit)
salt and pepper chips
Sesame prawn toast
curry sauce

All the yummy fried starters must be washed down with copious white wine.

Hardly ever order so go all out when we do. Plenty of leftovers.

I’m not remotely hungry, in fact am v nauseous, but this relentless list of way too much food has somehow piqued my appetite!

I will be slowly nibbling a banana for my actual dinner.

Our standard order (for birthdays/other special occasions) is:
Prawn crackers
Veggie spring rolls
Crispy chilli beef
Tofu in black bean sauce
Chicken chow mein
Plain rice
Fried rice.

Crunchymum · 27/10/2023 19:01

Having fajitas tonight but usual Chinese order includes a meat chow mein (usually chicken or pork) something sweet & sour (we sometimes have balls and sauce to dip or otherwise have either s&s chicken or pork) a beef dish (beef in oyster or beef in blackbean) and a portion of ribs. Oh and crackers.

We have a good portion left over for lunch the next day too.

It's very expensive so we don't order often, we aren't people who can just pick one dish each. We like to share!!

Bluevelvetsofa · 27/10/2023 19:08

I’d love a Chinese, but the once reliable local one is now crap and we binned the last lot we had. We haven’t had Chinese this year. So disappointing.

JollyJolene · 27/10/2023 19:11

Staples:
chilli beef
salt and pepper/chilli squid
seaweed
mini veggie spring rolls
hoisin sauce

new favourite is crispy chicken in satay sauce. Not the same as satay chicken.

often egg fried rice, sometimes plain chow mein

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 27/10/2023 19:13

I'm scoffing Chinese now
Prawns crackers
1/2 sweet snd sour chicken balls , swap the sauce for curry sauce
Beef chow mein
Chicken curry
Beef curry
I love the curry sauce
2 adults and there loads left for me to eat tomorrow

CateringPanic · 27/10/2023 19:26

That sounds delicious op but very parsimonious for 4 of you!

We’ve ordered:

  • capital spare ribs
  • chilli squid
  • duck chow mein
  • beef chow mein
  • wonton soup

finally discovered a reasonable Chinese in our area that actually delivers and isn’t living in the dark ages (cash only, order by phone, collection only) so it’s back on the menu!

CateringPanic · 27/10/2023 19:28

@SM4713 my MIL insists on ordering plain rice every single time. She did once try to cook it and time it to come with the delivery and was relentlessly mocked but I just don’t get why she doesn’t get fried rice, or noodles £4 for a plain cooked rice portion is madness!!

TeenTraumaTrials · 27/10/2023 19:45

All your orders sound so lovely. I love a good Chinese takeaway but the last 2 we have had (from different local places) have both been really disappointing - runny sauces and far too many onions. So it's Indian for us from now on

GigiAnnna · 27/10/2023 19:53

We get crispy Cantonese chicken with noodles. Salt and pepper chicken with fried rice and a carton of curry. Or we get a salt and pepper munch box.

Whattodo112222 · 27/10/2023 20:06

I love:

Salt and pepper ribs
Chips
Mini vegetable spring rolls
Chicken and Sweetcorn soup

Rockfordpeach · 27/10/2023 20:07

We usually order:

Special fried rice
Chicken chow mein
Kung po chicken
Satay chicken
Mini spring rolls
Prawn crackers

HangingOver · 27/10/2023 20:11

We're having it tomorrow I can't waaaaait. The one near my Dad's is the only one I've ever found with decent vegan options so I'll be having mushroom chow mein and tofu in cashew nuts 🤤

sparkedsparkle · 27/10/2023 20:16

Our Last order for 2 adults and 2 children was
1/2 duck
S&S pork balls
Egg fried rice
Special fried chow mein
Lemon chicken
BBQ ribs
Beef in spring onion and ginger
Sesame prawn toast

But they gave us lunch the next day too Grin

Whenwillglorioussummercome · 27/10/2023 20:20

I miss the good Chinese we used to have that delivered. We have to collect now we’ve moved so don’t get it so often.

We also don’t do well at sharing! So spend a lot but eat leftovers for about three days. My own order is:

Prawn toast
Spring Onion pancakes
Twice-cooked pork belly
Sea salt spice aubergine with minced prawns
Whatever sort of fried rice or chow mein feels good on the night!

TheTecknician · 27/10/2023 22:57

Nothing because takeaway food is rather expensive and not good value. However, if some mug else is picking up the tab I shall have:

Hot and sour chili soup
Prawn toast
Mixed spring rolls
Chicken in black bean sauce
Beef in oyster sauce
Special fried rice
Singapore noodles

And a fortune cookie for afters.

CateringPanic · 28/10/2023 08:00

@TheTecknician it’s not about it being good value, it’s about finding small ways to bring joy to your life. Pretty miserable existence if you only do things that are “good value” rather than fun, or as a treat

MissingMoominMamma · 28/10/2023 08:06

If I have Chinese food, salt & chilli tofu, fried rice and curry sauce.
