‘What do you want’ list…

I have a big birthday coming up… (not a big birthday person and also, don’t love this big birthday!)

I buy what I want when I need it. I used to love DVD’s and that was easy.. not a thing now. I used to love books but now it’s kindle or whatever.

I'm having a very low key dinner for my birthday with my closest family and some friends. I made it very clear to DH and DC’s that I don’t need a song and dance birthday, it’s just not who I am. I have been very happy to hear that the plans are just a dinner.

someone on friendship group has started an email thread to ask ‘what I want’ for my birthday. This makes me really uncomfortable as I am a ‘no gifts required’ kind of person. I’ve been told I need to make a list.

So, for one, how stressful is that?! There are things I want but I would buy them for myself … what kind of things are acceptable to put on a list? What would you want?

I have a birthday coming up but not a big one.
Vouchers for an experience/dinnner?
Something you don't have to store or keep or insure

I want a big Lego set. 😂

Thanks for replies!

I totally agree vouchers and big Lego set 😅 but you can’t ask for that in a list… seems so uncomfortable

I absolutely hate the idea of a list. Am I supposed to put in like £10 gifts?! I have no idea.

I would be really annoying and just say “your best wishes”. Probably not what you want to hear.

If you don't want to then surely it's just a case of saying " really you lot I'm not making a list - I don't really need anything, but thanks anyway" or similar and then just not.

I don't like to ask for things either, I would never ask someone for a big Lego set but I'd still like one.
