I've been having a kind of bantery chat with a male aquaintance for weeks...

It's fun and if that's all its going to be, it's still fun, but isn't it a bit odd?

I've known him for a long time (defintiely single) but not especially well. Things came to ahead a few months ago when we were both at a wedding, both had a bit to drink and probably uncharacteristically for both of us, engaged in some quite enthusiastic flirting. It was fun on the night but I didn't expect anything to come of it once we'd sobered up.

Then he started messaging. Just nice little messages wishing me well for something he knew I was doing, I sent a few similar and he always says something nice about how good it is to hear from me. It's not loads, one every couple of weeks. We've met with friends a few times too and spend much more time "together" than we ever had in that group before.

I don't know, just enjoying a bit of attention? Should I make a move or let him bide his time? I hadn't thought of him as a potential date before, but find I am doing lately.

Why not? If you find yourself thinking about him then just go for it and see what happens! Excited for you

Suggest going for a drink just the two , like is too short for pondering 😀

OK so just now, we've had a little exchange about an event this weekend that I'm quite nervous about. He's said "you'll do great and look great doing it".

It actually made me snort and I don't know whether to be appalled at the smarminess of it or go all giggly young girl 😆 (we're middle aged btw)

So what do I reply?

Can you not ask him for a drink together beforehand or after to 'treat the nerves' or celebrate your event?! Just ask!

No he's away this weekend doing a different, much more challenging event.

Thanks! Sorry you're going to miss it - let's have a drink next week and I'll fill you in on how it went.

And update us PLEASE!
