i have been referred to a consultant on the nhs at a private hospital but when i checked his results i found that he had only performed 13 knee replacements in the last 12 months. i queried this and asked for another consultant who has a much higher turnover and his secretary told me that he was not doing nhs work at this hospital only private.
the hospital then rang me to say that the first consultant was an associate of the consultant that i wanted and that the 2 worked together at that hospital and everyone thinks highly of the first consultant. i am very dubious because i think the more surgeries they have performed the better the outcome and i have never heard of this practice before
does anyone have any insight to this. thanks
