My parents didn’t invite me to family get-together.

Large family. Get togethers are yearly, rent a hall somewhere and everyone brings food.

My parents mentioned the recent one they went to. I asked why I wasn’t invited. They said there was no room in the minibus for me (which is irrelevant - DP would’ve driven).

It’s probably weight related. My mum LOVES picking on people because of their weight. She’s been the same whether I’ve been a size 10 or a size 20.

Growing up she was a typical almond mum.

She tries to pick at DS for his weight but I do tell her off. He put on weight during Covid and he’s losing it gradually.

Anyway, I’m fairly convinced it’s because she’s ashamed of my weight. I am overweight, but I’m actually fairly content. It’s not something I think about that much.

I’m not really sure why I’m posting. Just musing about it really.

Anyone have family members who are ashamed of them or can never meet their standards. Can we commiserate over how much it sucks..?

She sounds very nasty.

Maybe arrange another get together for the nicer members of your family and tell her there was no room on the bus!
