Why has my finger started hurting?

Ok, I know no one is actually going to be able to diagnose me, but I'm curious if anyone else has experience of this. I broke my finger a few years ago, and it didn't heal totally straight (very subtle extra bump by the joint, no one else would be able to tell). No issues with it since until this week when it has started hurting. No new injury, no difference in usage, just a bit sore, particularly when straightening it. I think there may be a very subtle change where the extra bump is but it's difficult to tell. Is it possible for an old injury to do this several years on? Is there anything I can do to help it? Very difficult to rest/strap a finger!

Arthritis? I've developed this in a toe joint that I broke over 30 years ago.

My ring finger which I broke years ago hurts randomly now and then, usually when it's cold. It's been nippy today here so it's got a bit of an ache.

If it looks different though that might be worth getting checked.

Have you recently had Covid? My mate's knee old injury is playing up.. GP said Covid is to blame.

It doesn't look different, but the extra bump feels a bit different. I guess arthritis/weather is probably the most likely explanation, it just seems odd to have suddenly started with no real trigger (it's not really that cold here yet!)

I developed random bumps on 2 finger joints and they were painful and the doctor just said that it was arthritis. The pain went away but the finger looks crooked now
