Can a 15 year old go to London Zoo without an adult?

My daughter (15) is going to London Zoo tomorrow with her friend(16).
The email confirmation says

  • Children under 16 will not be admitted without an adult

The actual ticket doesn't mention this and it wasn't mentioned during the booking process.
Will she be allowed in?
Does her 16 year old friend count as an adult in this case as 16+ have to pay full adult ticket price?

TIA

That should absolutely be fine. Does she know the area well or are ou taking her? I hope your daughter has a great time.

thanks @WhiteFriday
She doesn't know the area but her friend has annual membership so goes regularly and knows the area well.

It would be worth the friend’s family calling the membership line to be sure. If the 15 year old has recently turned 16 and does not have an adult membership then she can’t go in without an adult. They do scan them- they don’t check age ID, but it would come up as “child” so they’d look for an adult.

Oh that's a good point @KingsleyBorder OP, are you able to accompany them?

It will be fine with her friend.

Her friend has an adult membership and my daughter will be able to get in accompanying her.
I phoned London zoo to confirm this.

Ah brilliant, hope they have a fab time! Many great memories of London Zoo with DS. Tell her not to miss the squirrel monkeys!
