Birthday party ideas/games for 9 year olds

It's DDs 9th birthday party this weekend and I've agreed to a sleepover with 8 of her friends 🙈. Seemed like a good idea at the time but now I'm panicking!

They'll be here from 1pm until late morning the following day - so almost 12 hours.

I've got a few things planned - someone coming up to do Halloween face paint and nails and then a trip to the cinema. I've got Halloween decorations for them to paint (DDs request) and I've got an escape room planned too as well as karaoke! There will be food too, and I'm sure they'll all come with their various devices.

I'm needing some ideas though if there's a few periods where gaps need filled or the kids need distracted...what would go down well with 9 year olds? Traditional party games might be a bit young for them (they are mostly quite grown up for their age) but they still like to be silly and have fun.

Please send me your ideas (and strength 🤣)

Pictionary Air
Make magical mocktails - use a clear fizzy drink (lemonade, cream soda etc) & add candy floss - the candy floss melts & fizzes & if it's coloured the drink will change colour. The girls at my DDs party loved this!
Piñata
Treasure/Scavenger Hunt
Board games - like Throw Throw Burrito, Twister, Just Dance etc

Ah a piñata! That would have been great! Think I've left it too late though 😭

We actually have Pictionary air, and uno extreme, which will be good if they are willing to sit down and concentrate for any length of time 🤣

Love the ideas of mock tails too!

Get some cheap
disco lights off Amazon, get daughter to make a party playlist, turn all
lights off apart from disco lights and have a disco maybe with glow sticks. Macarena type songs and tik tock type trending songs will be a hit!

Oh forgot - I've bought loads of glow sticks!! My friends has a good LED disco ball so will ask if I can borrow it 😊

In the last years of primary my dc loved Pass the Parcel with forfeits between some of the layers. Things like
Tell a joke
Make an armpit fart
Pass the parcel blindfold
Pass the parcel with your feet
Kiss the person on your left.

Also fishing with donuts. Dangle ring donuts from a string and get 2 children at a time to eat them while blindfolded with their hands behind their backs. It's messy!

Errr.. almost 24 hours!

Do you have a park in walking distance for a change in scenery?

Do you have some nail polishes for pedicures and manicures?

MinnieMountain · 26/10/2023 05:46

Asda sell piñatas.

sleepfortheweek · 26/10/2023 10:05

Oops - yes I meant 24 hours 🙈

I've got someone coming to the house to do their nails 💅

Nearest Asda is 3 hours away unfortunately!
