Nose piercings on over 30 year old?

I'm considering getting my nose pierced. Anyone else got theirs done? What's your thoughts?
I've had piercings in the past but let them go apart from ears.

Yep, I'm 55. Why not?

PerspiringElizabeth · 25/10/2023 20:28

Same, I want to get mine redone as only had it for about a year when I was 20 ish and loved it! But it hurt SO BAD I don’t know if I can face it 😄 and what will my grandmother and mother say!! Definitely getting another ear hole though.

ShowOfHands · 25/10/2023 20:29

I'm 42 and half of my (40+) colleagues have nose piercings, as do I.

It's just normal to me.

NotmySundaybest · 25/10/2023 20:32

Lots of people are getting it done! It's like a revolution lol.
Does it hurt like a bitch?

I just had mine done last year and I’m 42. I love it! It didn’t hurt that much. Wish I’d had it done years ago

NotmySundaybest · 25/10/2023 20:41

Is it an issue when you get a cold?

It's not painful really. It's a sharp feeling and it makes your eye water on that side but it's over quickly. It's punching a hole in your face, it's going to be uncomfortable but no more than a cat scratch or a stubbed toe.

Sunnyweatherwoman · 25/10/2023 20:43

I had it redone this year at 39. It hurt more than I remembered but perhaps it was through scarring from the old one. The pain wasn't enough to put me off in the future.

Not at all.

PrintersCourt · 25/10/2023 20:44

I’m 50 and absolutely love mine, I feel so much more me with it. I didn’t think it hurt too much but stock up on chamomile teabags in case you knock it.

Sunshinebuttercupsrainbows · 25/10/2023 20:48

I was 29 when I got mine done and kept thinking I was too old. Then I thought “if I’d had it done younger, I’d still have it done at this age”. There’s no difference. Do it!

Foxblue · 25/10/2023 20:49

Do it!!
It doesn't hurt any more than a cartilage piercing but it's a bit more of a 'shock' and lots of people burst into tears, I did and apparently that's quite common!
It's way better with a cold than I thought tbh, you just have to be careful and swap for a shorter bar as soon as the piercer tells you it's safe to take out the long one they first put in.

I’m 48 and just had it done and I love it! And I’ve had so many lovely compliments about it

intergalacticplanetary · 25/10/2023 20:50

Do it! I had mine redone when I was 40. It fucking hurts when the needle goes in and feels nasty when they put the jewellery in! But it's over in a matter of seconds and worth the very short term pain. Just go to a reputable piercing shop and they will look after you well.

Icannoteven · 25/10/2023 20:51

Do it. Go to a reputable piercer. I got mine done recently. Well, re-done technically.

The first time I was a teen - naturally I got it done at the dankest , shithole imaginable (that didn’t ask for ID). with a piercing gun. No sterilisation, no aftercare advice , changed the jewellery to some cheap shit about a week later😬 I took the piercing out after a year because it didn’t heal properly 🤔

Thos time I went to blue banana, where my dd had recently gotten her ears pierced. I got it done with a needle - proper sterilisation and aftercare advice etc. I did find that it hurt more with a needle (6/10) but only for 5 -10 seconds.

autumn1610 · 25/10/2023 20:52

I’m 36 and had it for 20 years now 😮 which is pretty crazy when I write it down. I love it and I hate my nose and feel lost without. I’m hoping to be super old before I even consider taking it out. No issues with colds or anything like that.

I got mine done in my early 30s! Still wearing it several years later. I work in an office job and also do another job involving working in schools. It’s never been an issue.

And I absolutely love it! It’s definitely been one of my better life decisions 😂

I got it pierced with a needle at a reputable and clean piercing studio. It healed after a few months and I’ve had no infections or anything.

WeighDownOnMeStayTillMorning · 25/10/2023 20:54

I had mine done this year; it really stung but only for about 3 seconds.

I love it!

FunkyMonks · 25/10/2023 20:59

I'm 36 have my septum pierced and a few ear piercings go for it did what anyone else thinks 😊

NotmySundaybest · 26/10/2023 14:05

Which side is the norm for women? Or does it not matter?

OP posts:
Nuca · 26/10/2023 14:07

I'm 29, have 3 in mine and no intention of ever taking them out. Mil recently had hers done at 52 and loves it

WeighDownOnMeStayTillMorning · 26/10/2023 14:47

I don't think it matters which side? I just chose what felt more natural to me.

SootspriteSearcher · 26/10/2023 14:52

I'm mid 30s and have had mine since I was 17. I have a small ring in mine as I was forever losing studs! Barely realise its there!

Hurts initially but healed really fast.

When I get a cold I find I do get more bunged up on that side, and have to be careful that the ring is bogie free... 🤧

ladedahde · 26/10/2023 14:53

I had mine done as a teen, it was the absolute bane of my life, after a year I took it out.
