Do you wash the clothes you buy from stores before you wear, well I must be a filthy cow cos I don’t! Only underwear! I’m still alive and kicking. My friends were horrified 🤣

No. Don't wash underwear either. It's never occurred to me to do so.

Flissz · 25/10/2023 19:24

No, never have

vernatheraven · 25/10/2023 20:28

Never

NewUsernameJT · 25/10/2023 20:36

No never. I remember my mil was horrified i didnt wash a cucumber when i bought it from the supermarket. What the devil did she think had happened to it?! 🤣🥒 edited to say it wrapped in plastic!

jhy · 25/10/2023 20:48

I'm a washer I'm afraid! I think about all the people that have touched the clothes in a shop and like to have my own scent on them.

Raera · 25/10/2023 20:53

Never including undies. I only washed new baby clothes before using

NannyGythaOgg · 25/10/2023 21:43

NO

wizzbitt · 25/10/2023 21:52

Only my kid's clothes. It's a habit now.

ATPOAIM · 25/10/2023 22:02

Never

uncomfortablydumb53 · 25/10/2023 23:04

Never washed anything, including underwear

Girasoli · 25/10/2023 23:06

Only dark blue jeans (the dye came off on DS1s) legs once when I didn't.

Iknowthis1 · 25/10/2023 23:15

Never.

Clothes these days aren't made to wash well and last well. They'll never look quite as good as they did on that first wear before washing.

Flossflower · 27/10/2023 16:14

Clothes no, including underwear.
Food, always. When fruit and vegetables are grown they come into contact with manure, pesticides etc. Pickers and other handlers may a a stomach bug. Unless it is pre-washed I always wash.

NotFastButFurious · 27/10/2023 16:20

sometimes but not always, particularly things that I order online that arrive having been wrapped in plastic for some time. They often smell a bit funny and the creases don't come out unless washed first.

ThreeRingCircus · 27/10/2023 16:25

Always . Lots of people will have touched them, I buy most clothes secondhand from Vinted so would always wash them before I tried them on, new clothes sometimes have creases from where they've been folded for ages or you get fluff or dye transfer from brand new clothes. I remember the time I got DD1 a new school jumper, forgot to wash it first and when I took it off her she was absolutely covered in black fluff from the inside of the jumper 🤣.

It's just what I do though, it wouldn't bother me in the slightest if other people don't.

MaidOfSteel · 27/10/2023 16:31

The only clothes I'd wash before wearing is jeans, in case there's any dye to wash out. Other than that, nope.

CaptainBarnaclesandthevegemals · 27/10/2023 16:37

Almost always, but I have sensitive skin so any excess dye or anything used to iron it flat or just plain old dust on clothing is likely to make me itch. I also wash new to me second hand clothes because they always smell wrong - like someone else’s washing powder.

vestedinterests · 27/10/2023 16:38

No unless I get the item from Vinted, even if it's brand new with tags
