You'd need to get an appointment with a doctor and get them prescribed then picked up in a pharmacy, similar to UK - a pharmacist can't give them out without a prescription.
If you have travel insurance, get in touch with them

Would be highly unlikely. Normally antibiotics need a prescription. The pharmacist will propose different options, even suppository, apparently very efficient for chest infections . Sorry, not very helpful.

Also the motto in France is : les antibiotiques ne sont pas automatiques...

Ring your travel insurer and they will advise you what to do, how to get an appointment etc.

Thanks, maybe it's Poland where you could just get them yourself?

Im talking about 4 years ago now, but A GP appointment cost us around €25-30 and we were given antibiotics for a chest infection, ( though bizarrely the regular dose is much higher than in the UK. ) We paid ( for an adult) around £5 for the actual prescription. We just looked up the number of the local surgery and they saw us that day!

dementedpixie · 25/10/2023 09:28

Just because it's a chesty cough doesn't mean it's a chest infection. Why would you jump automatically to antibiotics? They aren't sweets!

Oh lord.

Your right demented we don't know yet. I'm just working out how we would get them if she goes down hill.
