Dd periods have stopped

DD is 13 next month, has had regular props since 11 1/2.

she is very worried that she hasn’t had one in September or October.

Definitely not pregnant.

Has lost weight recently (maybe a dress size 12, now 10) but have put this down to increase in sports, she plays 4 x week now, twice at school, twice after school, otherwise fit and well.

I have reassured her this will be hormones and is normal but her mum would like some reassurance now please!

dies this sound ok? I know periods fluctuate gur first two years but seems odd was monthly until now.

thanks

It might be due to increase in exercise and weight loss? Has she lost weight quickly?
Is she eating enough food?
If she is eating enough food then I'm sure they'll return.

Validus · 25/10/2023 06:29

Probably hormones but keep an eye on her weight. If she lost weight fast that may have upset the Apple cart.

unkownone · 25/10/2023 06:32

Could easily be hormones at that age or if it was me...I'd keep an eye out on the weight loss and make sure she's eating enough food and not going to the bathroom afterwards. It's how it all started for us. Went down hill very fast with an eating disorder.

I would be worried about an eating disorder and weight loss. Would also definitely insist on a pregnancy test whatever she says

greenacrylicpaint · 25/10/2023 06:44

did she have covid (or another flu like illness)?
those can mess with the cycle.

tbh, I would do a pregnancy test and see the gp.

have a look at red-s

Has her weight dropped below 7 1/2 stone? I seem to recall reading that that weight is significant.

Most 13 year olds would be below 7.5 stone.

Weighttlosshelp · 25/10/2023 07:14

Thanks all.

id say she has lost half a stone in past two months. Haven’t weighed her for a while so will do today. Will still be more than 8.5 stone am sure.

she has a healthy appetite and non-obvious signs of an eating disorder (at least when at home with us). I know will need to do a pregnancy test but she doesn’t spend time away from home, really goes to friends houses or they come here or supervised sports clubs. Also no interest in boys yet.

I went 9 months without a period at around 14/15. I’d had them since I was 10.
Then once every few months.
PCOS can do that to you.
