I love nights like this, raining, warm and cosy in bed and retired, no alarm…… finally settling into retirement…..

That is all, over and out.

Hot water bottle?

HeavenKnowsIamMiserableNow · 25/10/2023 00:28

Electric blanket, finally caved about four years ago.

Me, too! Have heated throws on the beds. A bit stormy outside with first snow for local mtns in forecast here.

Tigger1895 · 25/10/2023 00:49

My perfect night

mankini90 · 25/10/2023 00:54

Sounds totally bliss. I'm not retired but this is my kinda night

LoreleiG · 25/10/2023 00:58

Jealous! Sounds like bliss

Jelllytot · 25/10/2023 01:02

That sounds lovely 🤩 happy for you 😁

DiscoBeat · 25/10/2023 01:16

I have one of those small heated pads, left over from a back operation. I put it on every night now and love getting into bed in the cooler weather. Also enjoying the school holidays and morning lie-ins!

Strokethefurrywall · 25/10/2023 01:28

I live in the tropics so never get cold days with electric blankets, but one of my favorite things is to cosy in bed with a new book, cup of tea whilst listening to a raging storm outside. Even better if it's a Friday night and I've got no alarm set for the next day.

One of life's greatest pleasures. Probably even more so when retired so I envy you that OP! 😂

Just came to the surface, turned over set an alarm for 10.00, it is still raining and all is right with the world. 😊

You set the alarm!!!!

One of the best things about being retired is that I have almost forgotten how to set my alarm clock. 😆
Usually I am woken by the dogs, sometimes they want to go out into the garden but more often they just want to have a snuggle. 😴

HappilyContentTheseDays · 25/10/2023 09:33

Very jealous, this is my ideal. But I am not far from retirement....counting the days, just about a year to go. Can't wait!!
Enjoy your bliss......

Nannyfannybanny · 25/10/2023 09:34

After 50 years of working, the last 30 night nursing, hardly any sleep in the day. Only an alarm clock if we have an appointment, dentist whatever. Mind you I am on my second puppy post retirement,14 weeks old today. You can forget the heated what ever though,in the summer I am outside in my nightshirt deadheading the plants around 5am. Don't worry, were not overlooked!

Applerumleandcustard · 25/10/2023 09:37

Had to set the alarm this morning as we had a BT engineer ( between 8am and 1 ) call out booked , he’s been and gone , the sun is sort of out , so we’re going for a walk

It is lovely. If only DH, who is still working, could get over the idea that my retirement to do list doesn’t need to be completed in the first month!

SeaPool · 25/10/2023 10:15

Other cosy retirement accessories - crocheting/knitting (like an added blanket that only ever gets bigger and cosier, a furry fabric covered hot water bottle, sheepskin slipper boots, a dressing gown that makes you look like a bear.

Nannyfannybanny · 26/10/2023 08:48

Ooh,no to the hot water bottles, throws etc. I had to stop HRT (moved GP wouldn't prescribe) hot flushes. Amlodipine for hypertension, side effect: hot flushes, lesion on right adrenal gland....guess what the "side effect is"!!! I do usually knit, but puppy and knitting is not conducive 😂

Bookist · 26/10/2023 09:33

Rain is lashing against the windows here, while I'm slowly savouring my second cup of coffee. Going to enjoy a quiet day pottering at home, then out for dinner with DH tonight.

HeavenKnowsIamMiserableNow · 02/11/2023 00:44

Even better this evening.

I have sent some money to Crisis this month I can’t fix homelessness from here, but they maybe able to help someone.

From here on in, all my spare goes on Movember.

It's not just nights.
I KNOW that with the rain forecast for tomorrow, Ddogs will not want to go out and much of the day will be spent under a fleecy blanket in the sofa. 🐕
Ddog2 recently got a snuggle-sack and just LOVES it! 😍

Just doesn't feel so naughty with it being the weekend.

Allfourwalls · 03/11/2023 23:05

Very jealous! I dream of that feeling when I eventually retire....in about 30 years 😪
