Weve got quite low worktops. Remember years ago it was fun to eat at those European Cafe's standing (great for family). They were proper Breakfast Bar type height, Weve got plenty of home low worktops but too low to be classed as Breakfast Bar. Without altering the tops or hacking framework etc; was wondering if theres such a thing that could be places on worktop for such use. Taken/lifted off when want to use as full worktop etc. Only needs to be about 100 cm long etc... Thoughts?. Worktops 86 cm and ideally 109 cm breakfast height so difference .. So 23cm difference.... Be too much to get a wood chopping board 23 cm high ;-) .. One of our worktop i'm thinking is in centre of room but 23cm high only..

So like a counter top shelf. like this but wider/longer you mean?

I’m not really understanding why though. If you want to stand in the kitchen and eat/drink, I think reaching down to get your cup off the counter top is going to be less faff than lifting a unit off every time you want to use the full counter.

No its only about 80 cm metre length kept on part of the worktop... Like a thick butchers block but more width of worktop too. Not a butchers block.. Wouldn't want to keep moving. Could store stuff underneath too. Good height for laptop too .... About 15-20 cm high

Someone thought a piece of marble they have just nice size but how do I build up its height so it fits and doesn't scratch existing w'top and can be moved when reqd?

I think I would add cubbies or shelving underneath so it looked intentional rather than weird
