Just a rant… when things are just not working out

Hi guys,

I am just here to rant really don’t have a lot of friends to rant to lol. Me and my husband have been struggling a lot financially I am trying to find a job to help him, I have a toddler who is 3 years old so trying to find a job where I can pick and drop him at day care etc.. I kept getting rejected at interviews I finally improved that skill and started getting second interviews.

i had an interview on Friday last week and the company really seemed intrested in me I told them I have other interviews coming up aswell and they invited me for a second interview this week Friday and said if you get any other offers please see us first before accepting. I had an interview with a small team today and the salary was on the lower side but I genuinely like the company, they called me today evening offering the job, I told them I need some time to think as I also have other interviews coming up. I will let you know tomorrow I told them. They said okay and I was thinking about it as I had a second interview with another company on Friday who was offering higher pay..
the company called me after 15 mins and said they are taking the offer back as they think I am not suited for the job because I said I have other interviews coming up so I am not intrested in them.
I was so shattered and heart broken that I literally had a job and in 15 mins I didn’t. I tried explaining to them but they didn’t want to listen…

I am just so heartbroken I know I might be in the wrong but I literally asked them time to think which normally you can right. But I mean yo think things are going your way and you are back to square one.

I do have an interview on Friday, but what if something goes wrong and we are literally struggling to meet ends at the end of this month. Just needed somewhere to rant to…

Never tell people your moves.

Can I have a day or two to think things over please? Then say nothing else.

Don't worry OP there is progress you're making it to the final stages and pretty soon you will have a job.
Personally though if you are desperate I'd just take an offer. You can always reject it after you get the other job. Make up a reason that's not your fault, like another company's first choice bailed. Or something.

Personally speaking a company being this inflexible is a red flag they should give you at least a week to think but if you are desperate and need money coming in you have little choice.

I hope you get the job on Friday.

I'm so sorry, OP, that's really crap.

Yes, you did make a mistake by telling them that you had another interview. But still, that was a shitty thing for them to do and perhaps shows the company wasn't as great as you thought.

But, you have an interview on Friday which is brilliant.

i totally agree with you! I just had the thought at the back of my head that I don’t want to say yes to this company and then bail out if I get a better offer on Friday tbh. I shouldn’t have told them about the interview but still I thought that was really unprofessional of them to do that.

Yeah they have shown their true colours here, what a petulant thing for them to do!
Go into your interview later in the week full of confidence and I'm sure this will all work out for the best in the long run

yes definitely I agree with you! Maybe I avoided a toxic working environment.
the company I have an interview on Friday is a second stage interview and they did seem to like me so fingers crossed I get good news on Friday xx thank you for the wishes, sometimes you just need someone to tell you it’s going to be okay. ☺️

I lost a couple of job offers this way when I was in my late twenties to early thirties. It goes against my natural tendencies as I'm generally an open and honest person, but you really do need to treat job hunting like a poker game. Don't show anyone your hand in the course of the game. I am so sorry this happened, best of luck on Friday.

Good luck for Friday! But yes, don’t reject a job offer because you have other interviews. accept it anyway. You can always change your mind

i am in my late 20s and i guess I am the same I was just being honest and didn’t want to accept and then later on say no to them. But I guess you learn as you go along thank you xx

yes! I was just trying to be honest lol, maybe I got away from working in a toxic environment that’s all I can think really. You should really give someone atleast a day to think about an offer right?! But anyways..
it definitely is! Sometimes you feel there is no way out.. but I guess with determination we can all get through it can’t we. We just need to stay strong 💗

Just an update guys, I managed to get a job offer for the interview on Friday! Waiting for the contract to come through on Monday and will be starting 6th nov! ❤️❤️
