These Miserable Dark Evenings

Just wondering what you all do in the evenings when it's not long until daylight saving - and dark even earlier - to beat the early autumn/winter blues?

I miss being able to sit in my little courtyard garden at 7pm, get a late tennis doubles match in, go for a walk in the evening sun etc. it really is just TV and MN (which ain't all bad!)

Six months at least until lighter evenings start again. Any tips/ideas? What are you doing right now?

Farmers these days have access to bright floodlights if they need to start work early. That was not the case back in the day when daylight saving was introduced. As for it being dark when kids walk to school, I wonder how many kids actually walk to school nowadays? Judging by the number of cars around school opening and collecting times, not many I would say.

So maybe the arguments for holding on to daylight saving are not all that pertinent anymore. I wonder then, what are the obstacles to changing the system so we don't have to put clocks forwards and backwards? Maybe it has to do with European time zones and business hours or something. But if we kept at the same time every year why would it matter? We are already an hour ahead of most European countries anyway at the moment.

I just don't understand it!
