Nursery - inadequate ofsted

What does it mean if a nursery receives an inadequate ofsted rating? It's a new nursery school. It got inadequate due to the management not following or knowing of safeguarding procedures.

What will happen?

It depends on the actual issue.

They might give them a certain length of time to fix the issues. Or they might close it down immediately.

This happened where I live. It was shut down in the middle of the inspection and people had to go and collect their children. Then the parents were ll scrambling to find care for the next day.

A nursery attached to an actual school? Is it a private school?

If not they might draft in a head from another school in the short term to navigate the next couple of weeks.

No it is on private premises in a retail park. Only opened about a year ago. No school attachment.

It's just that you called it a nursery school.

They call themselves a nursery school

One of the criticisms was no links to other local centres etc in the community along with the not reporting Safeguarding adequately

Has there been a lot of staff turnover recently or has the nursery changed it’s safeguarding policy? If there hasn’t been a major incident then it’s probably been rated as inadequate because staff don’t understand the nursery’s procedures. It’s usually fixable with training & then a good provider will invite Ofsted for a reinspection within the year.

It's newish (first inspection) and they said the owner didn't understand the Safeguarding
