I have accepted a new job and am very excited about it. It’s a big pay jump and a whole new challenge.
Unfortunately, it’s taking a while for my contract to be finalised (due to some specific issues that I won’t share, as it’s outing). I have told them I am not resigning from my current job until I have the contract, which I believe is sensible. However, this is making me very uncomfortable at work.
I was in the office the other day and basically had to lie through my teeth in my 1 to 1, as my manager (who is lovely) was asking am I happy in the job, was there anything I’d change etc. She also talked about how glad she was that I’d decided to stay after a job offer I got last year… I felt awful sitting nodding and smiling when I know I’m about to tell her l’m going after all 😬😬
I have another day in the office on Wednesday and, if my contract hasn’t come through by then, I’m seriously considering calling in sick just to avoid another day of gritting my teeth and talking about plans for the team for the year ahead.
I’m not even sure what I want from this thread to be honest - maybe just to hear that I’m not terrible for keeping up this front!
