Taking the dc away today til Friday. Last night started with sore throat, slightly swollen glands, stuffy nose. I dont feel too bad but have a week in a holiday caravan park coming up, lots of swimming etc and just want to rest 😴

I can call in at boots/supermarket on the way.

Give me your top tips please!

Loads of fluids and go to bed early.

Embrace hoodies.

Vicks First Defense.

I've just staved off a cold with this (although I started using it as soon as I got symptoms - 2 out of 3 DC and DP had thay horrid non covid flu type thing doing the rounds last week)

Did the job. We went away on Saturday. Kids and DP now recovered and I'm fine.

You can't fend it off, you can only lessen the effects.
Plenty to drink, keep liquid levels up.
If it gets fluey/achy, don't be afraid to have paracetamol every four hours, keeps aches and headaches at bay. Don't have the paracetamol which also contains caffeine, if you need to keep awake a coffee is better.
If you get bad runny nose/sore eyes, lemsip is helpful, the type which also contains a decongestant. Lemsip tablets are better (absorbed differently by your body) than the lemsip drink. DO NOT HAVE LEMSIP AND PARACETAMOL TOGETHER, they both contain paracetamol so you will get too much. Check packet instructions.
Stuffy nose is often the worse thing about a bad cold. Buy yourself Otravine adult nasal drops - the drops are better than the nose spray - and use as directed. It takes 10 minutes after application to clear each nostril but I can assure you that a clear nose and the ability to breathe without sneezing everywhere is bliss and will make any cold seem 10 x better.

Thanks, DC1 was snuffly and coughing for a couple of days but is better today. Family members have been knocked out by the awful not covid cold so I'm hoping to avoid that!

Beechams all in one always helps me. Vitamin c and iron and trying to keep active and in the fresh air. That said I've just had a coughing lurgy and didn't go running for over a week. Went yesterday and felt better
