You’ve just made my day!

PrincessHoneysuckle · 23/10/2023 09:18

Findus French bread pizza.
Ready salted Chipsticks

brownbeauty80 · 23/10/2023 09:18

Homepride potato bake sauce..
Just slice some potatoes and arrange in layers with this white creamy sauce..
we had it at least 3 times a month..
Last place to still have it was Tesco just before covid became a thing..

Sainsburys seem to have stopped making their bacon brunch. I loved that

Those cod in parsley sauce, boil in the bag

You can still get cod in parsley sauce

I loved this. Used to buy in 90s x

Raisin and cinnamon Muller rice pot. Used to buy them all the time in the early 2000s but at some point they vanished. I think the packaging was purple. I still look in vain every so often.

Lose10kyesterday · 23/10/2023 09:39

The original Smith's crisps with the blue twist of salt.

ShoesoftheWorld · 23/10/2023 09:39

MadeOfAllWork · 23/10/2023 09:12

They still do them. I have a tin in my cupboard.

Ooooh! Thank you! Will look harder on next visit home.

The original Smith's crisps with the blue twist of salt.

They still make them but not enough salt 😑

anon0007 · 23/10/2023 09:45

Nestle secrets

And the salt twist's all wrong, it's a packet not a twist, unless they've changed them again since I last tried them (a while ago now, for sure, I don't live in the UK any more).

RomanMum · 23/10/2023 09:47

Old Twister ice lollies, not the travesties they have today. A round lolly stick and two flavours of water ice, pear and pineapple IIRC.

Another vote for Mignons Morceaux. And gutted about dark chocolate Bounty.

DahliaMacNamara · 23/10/2023 09:59

Golden Wonder spring onion flavour are fine, but for that old style taste you want a big bag of green onion Lay's from your nearest purveyor of Eastern European goods.

I still yearn for the tins of curry sauce Sainsburys stopped selling in about 1999. A beautiful, beautiful product. And so many M&S treats snatched away without warning over the years. Today I want to remember their vegetable cannelloni.

MotherofWhippets81 · 23/10/2023 10:03

Sainsbury’s used to do some garlic bread brioche crisp things in a silvery green bag. Haven't done them for about 15 years but I can still taste them 😭

KimberleyClark · 23/10/2023 10:10

Birds Eye cheese potato waffles. Plain ones just not the same.

LetMeGoogleThat · 23/10/2023 10:15

Heinz cream of celery soup.

AreThereSomewhereIslands · 23/10/2023 10:23

Waitrose saffron buns - gone since c2016/17 but not forgotten. Sad

PrincessHoneysuckle · 23/10/2023 10:28

Mcdonalds sausage and cheese bagel

BrimfulOfMash · 23/10/2023 10:29

Raindancer411 · 23/10/2023 06:58

They still sell topic bars

@Raindancer411 Check the sell by date if you see them in a local shop. Stopped production last year or 2021 🙁

PinkyDinkyDoodle · 23/10/2023 10:39

Sweden, St Lucia’s day. Saffron buns are the traditional food, @AreThereSomewhereIslands and they are amazing. You could try those and see how they compare.

Blueberrycreampie · 23/10/2023 10:42

ShoesoftheWorld · 23/10/2023 07:14

Heinz used to do baked beans with little vegetarian sausages in. Haven't seen those for years and years (don't live in the UK, but look every time I go).

Actually, vegetarian sausages that contain actual vegetables as opposed to being made of fake meat seem to be dying out.

I'm sure I saw these recently will have to try to think where - Asda maybe?

AreThereSomewhereIslands · 23/10/2023 10:44

@PinkyDinkyDoodle - thanks very much for the tip-off. I see St Lucia's Day falls on December 13th, so I have time to hunt for either online recipes or some Swedish neighbours! Grin

Beaverbridge · 23/10/2023 10:45

Original milky ways.
Golden cups.

Firecarrier · 23/10/2023 10:47

Aldi's Mae's kitchen spicy nacho bean burgers!

I rarely buy 'convenience food' but these were amazing.

I even emailed aldi asking why they were discontinued. Didn't really give an answer from memory.

PinkyDinkyDoodle · 23/10/2023 10:47

I miss the flavour of Lucozade before they took out all the artificial colourings.
Horlicks Tablets.
Worcester Sauce crisps. (Can’t get them around here any more, but that may be more to do with Sainsbury’s than Walkers.)
Mumtaz curries, and tarts made with a curd and raisin filling. Our local Morrisons has discontinued both.
Proper Twigletty Twiglets.

And an other vote for Brannigans. I used to buy them from the lunch trolley when I was working in an office a few years ago, and they made the job bearable.
Fentimans Ginger Beer. I know you can still buy it, but it now has sweeteners in it and tastes terrible. Morrisons is almost as good, but isn’t perfect.
Ham and Mustard crisps (I can’t remember which brand but they had a “we are posh farmers” style branding)
