So pleased about all the Pacers comments! I loved them - even made a song up about them for car journeys:
walk another pace with a pacer, walk another pacer with a pace. Walk another pacer with a pacer, and I'll come rolling home!

NewtonPulsifer · 23/10/2023 04:20

Thought of another one:

circa 1994/5 Sainsburys sold a Chinese chicken sandwich: it was delicious. I always look for it if ever I’m buying a sandwich. 🥲

Fruit gums/pastilles (am aware you can still get them but they are shit now)
plain chipsticks

Exactly my thoughts.
A plain chipstich is a wonderful thing!
And don't get me started on fruit gums.
In a roll pack, thin things with dimples on top... Can never be beaten!

Lwrenagain · 23/10/2023 04:24

Does anyone remember the cauldron foods cheese and spinach pate?
It went around 2007 I think and I still miss it 💔

Aria999 · 23/10/2023 04:30

Findus cheese crispy pancakes

Adifferentangle · 23/10/2023 04:31

As others have said, drifters, spira, beef and mustard brannigans.
M&S used to do a sort of fish curry - called prawn and monkfish stew I think. Expensive and in a round foil tray. Heavy on the coriander - I loved it! There is something similar these days but it isn't half as good.

I've seen toffos in the last year or so but they were broken and tasted stale - unsure if that was the recipe or the fact I got them from a little newsagent.
I can't seem to find American handguns anymore. Is this due to everyone being vegan and halal? I loved the texture and the flavour of the white ones.

Another vote for Pacers.
Tiger Tots (mini liquorice all sorts in the same range as Jelly Tots & Dolly Mixtures, or were they Dolly Tots in the 70s?).
Cabana bars.
Topics.
McVitie’s Tunis Cake.
Those packet cake mixes that would separate in the oven into cake on the top & custard/sauce on the bottom.
Crawford’s Iced Biscuits.
Texan bars.
Burton’s Puffs and baked bean Piglets.

Perhaps this is the 70s childhood DNA’s epigenetic causation of my diabetes today lol!

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 23/10/2023 04:44

I forgot the turd like 70s wonder candy that was the Nutty (in the brown cellophane wrapper). I’d bite off the peanuts for that glorious fudge middle.

US PayDay candy is a close second place substitute, but it’s not the same. And a once a year treat since the beetus diagnosis lol.

God there are some right good discontinued foods on here!!!

Spira and start ceral were amazing!

M&S used to go white chocolate freeze dried strawberries and they were delightful!

I used to love the cakes in the tin, god they were beautiful!

Toast toppers.

Agreed! I liked the pink one, think it was chicken perhaps curry?! Loved it 🥰

Magicshoppingtrolley · 23/10/2023 05:53

Pacers sweets
Tooty Fruities

JoanThursday · 23/10/2023 06:24

M&s Deltas - little puffed up potato triangles of salty joy. They've been gone for over 20 years and I still miss them.

treenu · 23/10/2023 06:31

Fuse bar

Lwrenagain · 23/10/2023 06:31

Colin the caterpillar butterfly sweets! They could have knocked a good 5 years off my lifespan should they have continued.

WedRine · 23/10/2023 06:32

Gregg's cheese and and ham pastry

Autumny · 23/10/2023 06:37

I can't quite remember what it actually was, but it tasted like a freeze-dried strawberry bar coated in yogurt from Boots in the early 90s. Does anyone else remember them?

Needapadlockonmyfridge · 23/10/2023 06:47

Peepshowcreepshow · 22/10/2023 23:55

I am a stuck record on these threads, but I make no apology for that.
Phileas Fogg's Mignon Morceaux.

OMG yes!

meatbaseddessert · 23/10/2023 06:51

M&S used to do a chicken tikka sandwich half pocket pitta type thing. That rocked my world.

meatbaseddessert · 23/10/2023 06:52

Magicshoppingtrolley · 23/10/2023 05:53

Pacers sweets
Tooty Fruities

Tooth Frootys still exist.

Frazzledandfried · 23/10/2023 06:55

Hot crunch pudding! It was like an instant custard you made with boiling water, then a separate sachet of crunchy biscuits crumb type topping. Childhood nostalgia right there 😋

Needapadlockonmyfridge · 23/10/2023 06:55

M &S used to do Thai prawn crackers that were amazing. I could scoff a whole big pack in about 5 minutes. Sadly disappeared about 25 years ago.

Lyons Showboats.

Mignons morceaux. Where did they go to?

Raindancer411 · 23/10/2023 06:58

BrimfulOfMash · 23/10/2023 00:03

Topic bars
Drifter
M&S potato waffles when they were made from lumpy chunky mash with actual bits of potato, rather than the fine texture less reconstituted potato of all available waffles now.

They still sell topic bars

PinkShoelacesAndAPolkaDotVest · 23/10/2023 07:04

Shipham’s Bloater Paste 😋

transformandriseup · 23/10/2023 07:12

I remember having this in the late 90's but can't remember when it disappeared.
