What can I do with unwanted beer??

Ok first world problems but we have LOADS of beers left after a recent party and none of us drink beer. What can I do with it? I put a message on my streets WhatsApp group but nobody wanted it. I don't think foodbanks take alcohol do they? I don't want to put it on one of those free cycle type sites because I'm worried a bunch of teenagers will probably want it and I don't want the aggravation of trying to work out if they're old enough or argue if they're not. Feels bad to bin it though. Any ideas?

You must have contact numbers for the party guests?

Perhaps one of them wants it?

StartingAgainAgain23 · 22/10/2023 13:36

Have another party 🥳🎉

Any local churches or charities having a fund raiser? Tombola prizes I'm thinking.

Keep it til the sellby date. Christmas is only 9 weeks away, then new year! And surely there's a few family birthdays in the next 6 to 12 months. I am sure you can consume most of it before the sellby date.

When the sellby date comes up, crack each bottle or tin, and tip it down the drain, and stick the bottles/tins in the recyclable waste!

Surely you have phone numbers for your friends who came. Ask them.

EDIT - they might have a family member who drinks it even if they don't.

Or a raffle prize = 'loads of beer"!

Take it to work, pop it in the works kitchen with a ‘help yourself’ sign on it.
School Christmas fair donation.

At room temperature beer in cans/bottles will keep for a minimum of 3 months.

Do you have anywhere to put them?

How much beer is it?

Any rotary/charitable organizations will be having raffles. If you say you have a crate of beer for a raffle prize someone will take it off your hands.

Any local business you want goodwill from, e.g. where we get our MOT done every year. Bob, do you want 20 beers for your Christmas party?

Are there any bonfire nights planned?

You can have your friends in your garden saying you're not hosting apart from beer, marshmallows and sparklers.

Guiness cake.

BombaySamphire · 22/10/2023 13:58

Why didn’t you send it home with your guests? Can’t understand why you don’t just offer it to one of them now, instead of wondering what random stranger will take it off your hands 🤔

CesareBorgia · 22/10/2023 13:59

Old people's home/sheltered accommodation might like some beers for their socials.

Ginmonkeyagain · 22/10/2023 14:40

With school Halloween or Christmas fairs coming up can you donate it for a raffle or tombola prize?

We often have this "problem". We both drink beer but don't drink a lot at home. Mr Monkey had a side hustle that involves working with a lot of small breweries, so he gets a lot of freebies. When we reach capacity we tend to take a few cans whenever we meet friends or family and give them as presents.

socialdilemmawhattodo · 22/10/2023 14:46

When my dad died, my mum left it out for the dustpeople. She's lived there for years and always leaves a Christmas tip. So they kind of know her. With a note that simply said "if you are able to take, and would like these please help yourselves". It all went!

Excitingnewusername · 22/10/2023 16:52

Conditioning hair rinse.

(or save it for the next party)

therealcookiemonster · 22/10/2023 17:17

I assume it has a long shelf life... and you can cook with it? there are plenty of beer forward recipes?

Revenants · 22/10/2023 17:20

Tip it into saucers left on your patio. Turn the outside lights on and watch slugs, hedgehogs and voles have awesome nocturnal raves.

User3735 · 22/10/2023 17:23

Message your friends and ask if anyone wants it. Knock on your neighbours doors and offer it. Keep it until your next party.

KnickerlessParsons · 22/10/2023 17:37

Beer bread
Beef casserole
Gravy
Mulled at Christmas
Steak and ale pie

Or give it to your mates

YokoOnosBigHat · 22/10/2023 20:20

Do you have a nearby bus stop? We have one outside our house and if ever we want to get rid of something that's got life in it, we stick it at the bus stop saying "free, please take". I've got rid of a buggy, canvas art I didn't want, a dolls house, bags of cement, a scooter... amongst all kind of other stuff. Always works!

rwalker · 22/10/2023 20:22

keep it and send another me out nearer Christmas

Brefugee · 22/10/2023 20:26

we always buy crates of beer on "sale or return" so take any full crates back. But then we do drink beer sometimes.
