What's making you really happy right now?

As title says really! There's so much unhappiness in the news right now.. I want to try and make a point to remember all the good things in my life on a daily basis.

I shall go first:
I have historically been such a grumpy morning person but I'm laying next to my 6 month old marvelling at how even though I've been up since 4.39am and she's only just gone to sleep, I'm watching her all gooey eyed and so in love and awe. I never knew I was capable of being this happy whilst this tired and so early in the morning, and it just caught me off guard 🥰

Also I feel very lucky to have DH by my side during these first few tricky and tiring months of motherhood. He tries really hard to anticipate my needs before I have to ask for help and I think that is very sweet. For example, my back is super painful and last night when I got home before I could take.my boots off he just knelt down and undid them for me. It's the little things 🥰

This morning, my very DH is making me a bacon sandwich.

Finestreason · 22/10/2023 07:42

I am happy that the weather will be nicer today and hopefully tomorrow.

I’m looking forward to going out today with DH for lunch and enjoying our conversations together.

I’m happy that my neighbours beloved dog (whom had been a part of our family for 13 years) has rallied and is up and out walking and happy again.

And some yummy cheese and apple for breakfast makes me happy too. As do winter squashes, delicious!

My dog is snoring in the couch next to me 🥰

My maternity Oodie.

3 weeks to go until baby 4 arrives and I'm living in it. I look like a walking tent but I am so warm.

LaurieStrode · 22/10/2023 07:58

Clean sheets and electric blanket.

@Fleetheart he's adorable!

I’m snug in bed on holiday with a sleeping dog, a lovely cup of coffee and DH is getting breakfast 😊

I am exhausted as DD2 age 4 wet the bed at 4am and after sorting all that out I couldn't go back to sleep.

BUT we recently designated Sunday afternoons as self care Sundays and I cannot wait. I run a hot bubble bath in the middle of the afternoon, have a good soak and then moisturise all over with nice smelling lotion and get into warm PJs and do the same for DDs. We give each other back and shoulder massages (well, DD1 aged 6 sort of tickles my back for a bit 🤣). Then we cook something nice for dinner and watch a film. Today we'll make toad in the hole and watch one of the Harry Potter films.

scoobycute · 22/10/2023 08:09

I'm happy this morning because I got up a bit early to shower and do my hair and makeup and get a coffee in peace (feeling like a new woman 💁🏼‍♀️)

I too have a little baby (7 weeks old) and he's sleeping soundly in the next to me crib whilst my 2 year old and DH have a lie in too! It's bliss!!

I was struggling with my new little baby as he is fussy in the evenings and hard to settle overnight too at times...then I thought about all the people who have babies this age and younger in this awful war and what an absolute nightmare they must be going through, especially those who have lost children. It made me grateful of my circumstance.

That's a lovely idea! Do you all cook together?

A very big congratulations! It's the hardest but most precious time! I miss my baby that little already 🥺

We are truly blessed that we were born with winning tickets where we can raise our babies in a secure place

@Jelllytot I try to get them to cook with me, they're only little still so do tend to get bored and wander off after ten minutes or so. If I can get DD1 to mix up the Yorkshire pudding batter and DD2 to tear some broccoli into florets then I'll be counting that as a win.

The nice thing is they're now at the age where they can entertain themselves for a bit and don't need constantly watching so I can leave them playing in the living room or watching cartoons and finish cooking with a glass of wine and the radio on.

CountryShepherd · 22/10/2023 08:22

I moved house recently and am lying in bed, with a big cup of tea brought up by DH, looking straight out ontothe glorious autumnal Dorset countryside. I can see for nearly 20 miles, without a single road or house in the view. We're not isolated, just well located - we're 5 minutes walk to the pub and village shop! And 25 mins to the big town.

Jelllytot · 29/10/2023 22:59

I've only had showers for the last 20 or so years. I just had a steamy hot bath and I can't believe I've not had one in so long. It soothed so many of my aches!
