Strictly and learner dancers

2 celeb dancers this evening have made a point of mentioning that they're learners and have little previous experience.

I wonder if this is in response to theatre stage star Layton who's played Billy Elliot and Michael Jackson in stage musicals.

He's obviously doing really well with all that experience and really seems unfair on the others without that previous level of training.

I was really sad to see Jody voted off last week but there was no way he could compete against someone with all that training.

Feels a bit like cheating.

I hear you, but don't think it's unfair. They're meant to be judged on their own performances and improvements, not against each other- for example, Zara tonight- nothing compared to some of the others, but an improvement for her, so she got the scores to show that.

It's a popularity show, not a dance show. See John Sargent.

I agree too - also the actors who have been to stage school and therefore danced for most of their time in education. I’ll let Angela Rippon off her dance experience though as she is nearly 80! 😆

We were talking tonight about how it would be a fun change just to get normal (non-celeb) people in there with no real dance experience. It’d certainly mix it up a bit!
