Feeling low and ill AFTER my period?

It's finished bar minor spotting and I've spent the day weeping in bed with a horrible headache and exhausted. This isn't when it's meant to happen is it?!

have you checked whether you’re anaemic or lacking in salt?

Missmas · 21/10/2023 18:02

I take vitamins with iron and eat Maldon like it's going out of fashion :-(

Yep same for me every month. Headache and exhaustion always worst right at the end, although not pleasant at any point!

Missmas · 22/10/2023 16:27

Thank goodness, still suffering today. Just exhausted and weepy. Roll on their disappearance!

I've had that this month for the first time ever. I mean WTAF. Is PMS not enough!

Missmas · 22/10/2023 16:47

First time for me too! It's awful isn't it?

How old are you OP? I'm 44 and this has definitely increased in last few years. Almost like my hormones can't regulate as quickly

Ridiculousradish · 22/10/2023 16:51

How old are you? I'm 39 and felt like that before I started HRT 4 months ago. I used to feel great at the end of my period, but I started to feel really crappy. My hormones were all over the place.
This may well be a one off for you though! Keep a record of it.

I’m the same and it’s a rollercoaster. Some cycles worse than others.
I have only noticed this since my period returned after pregnancy / breastfeeding.
It can be incredibly debilitating.
I am anxious and snappy during ovulation, then 2 weeks to period I am exhausted. Period arrives and I weirdly have more energy then as soon as it finishes, I have migraine, body aches and incredibly low mood for a day or two. And so on…!
For me, exercise, fluoxetine (prescribed by GP who was good with hormonal stuff and had seen studies that it helped to take it part of your cycle) and sumatriptan for migraine relief post period have helped to manage and regulate it. I find my worst months are when stress is highest and the exercise makes a difference to that.
I’ve stopped the fluoxetine now as I’m TTC no2 and felt I could cope without.
