Being sick when you've got small kids

I've had a cold all week and muddled through at work. It seems to have hit me full whack today, with chills, a relentless cough and an aching back. My husband has been running around sorting out the older kids and I was supposed to take our toddler to sort groceries and then start dinner but I just want to lie down. We don't live near family so have no support.

Just needed to sound off. I'll manage. I'm not at death's door, just wiped out and feeling grotty.

Baby's bedtime soon 😀

Being ill with kids sucks, especially when they are really little and have to be watched. Can you order groceries to be delivered and get a takeway for dinner?

I would not class taking a toddler to the supermarket to do the food shop as an easy going task, I'd order groceries or ask your husband to go while I stayed with the kids, or just go alone and leave the toddler with him.

You just have to tag team it with the other half. Go to bed! He can make the kids dinner and do bedtime etc.

Can you click and collect op and get your dh to collect. It’s really difficult as you just can’t switch off and stop and go to bed you have to be up feeding and god knows what else.no idea how single parents do it.

There’s nothing worse than being poorly with young kids. Sending all the good vibes

Thanks all.

Husband is popping to the local shop to do a mini shop and I'm going to collect our eldest from his friend's house. DH had a drink before he came home and realised I'd gone downhill (some dads went for a pint after the kids football match) so doesn't want to drive.

Friend lives just 5 mins away by car so will leave the baby to do bedtime with DH, get my son, come home and go to bed.

I've felt worse. Pre kids, I would have just gone to bed with a box set and chilled out in bed all day.

Doesn't work now!
