Are card payments down today

Have to go out this pm and keep reading on SM that there's a widespread problem with payments? Bloody cash machine at my local shops is out of order.
Does chip and pin still work?

M&S card machines down near me and shop assistant mentioned aldi had similar issues. Problem is everyone was going to get notes out to pay, then they started running out of cash/change

I used my debit card in my local farmshop earlier no problem. I can't see anything online about widespread card issues today. But this is the problem with having cashless society that if the banking systems fail for some reason we're all screwed.

M&S was very slow or not completing card payments this morning, there were huge queues. All other shops I went in were fine.

Contactless has been fine today but husband had problem paying gas bill online. Not sure if it’s the same problem.

Home bargains wasn’t working at all. Aldi and morissons both fine. This was Apple Pay. Tried 5 times in home bargains and it wouldn’t have it

Contactless was down in M&S but I could use my card with a pin

aldi, B&M, tesco, asda were ok (went to lots today!)

My local New Look and Home Bargains could not take card today. In New Look they were saying it's the same for most of the stores.

I work at McD's. Debit/credit cards + mobile pay have been down all day. From what I've seen some bank cards are working some are not.

The ones mostly not working in our stores atm seem to be : nationwide, barclays, Halifax.

Yorkshire and contactless didn’t work in a couple of places. Whsmith needed cash.

Thanks for replies, I got some cash eventually! Card worked fine contactless in Primark though. Weirdly patchy over the UK, it seems.
