Free Gift Box for MN Premium Annual

How come the free gift box is only for users who pay the annual subscription upfront?
That seems a bit mean. We can’t all afford to pay £50 for something all at once.
If there was a quarterly version then absolutely but not £50 in one go in a cost of living crisis. Particularly as MN Premium doesn't really have very many additional features than regular MN.

It feels a bit like rewarding those who're wealthier and punishing the poor. All too familiar if you know what I mean?!
I do understand that with it being only £4.99 a month, that some people would just take the free gift and then cancel but surely if they did that, you could just close their account?

I'd expect this kind of marketing from some big brands but I'm surprised at Mumsnet.

I would think that anyone who chooses to pay a subscription to something that can be had free probably is not going to have an issue with paying £50 up front if the gift box means that much to them.
I've not really worked out why I would want MN Premium though. If it all went paying then I'd just close my account.

I didn't know about that. I don't think they market the premium well at all.

You make a good point I suppose. Sometimes I can get very stuck on principles.

Re: MN Premium I do think they could've added a couple of new helpful features to it if they really wanted a big uptake of it. Like making the editing of comments a premium feature. Too late now though!
