Anyone with Covid now?

Tested positive for the first time yesterday. Had to cancel a family gathering today. Had the worst headache ever plus aches and pains all over with on and off shivers.

Bit concerned as I have asthma.

Hopefully it will be short and sweet. Any remedies?

I’ve got it for the first time too. Feels like a bad cold with some aches and a temp. Started with dizziness and a scratchy throat. Am now over a week in so hoping it clears soon! Hope you aren’t feeling too bad. Sorry, no remedies to recommend, except for rest and lemsip.

Honey and lemon for the throat.
Paracetamol and plenty of water.

I got very congested/sinusitis and found a nasal spray amazing. And don't me like me and only buy actual tissues rather than loo paper once you're actually better.

And Tesco whoosh is the most amazing thing, delivers snacks at 30 minutes notice 🤩

I am on day 8 and DH is 4 days behind me and has had fever day and night - much worse than me. I’m in the spare room as he is sweating and chasing sides ( and tee shirts) all night.
I had the worst sore throat- couldn’t even swallow my own saliva, and the tiredness and aching bones is extreme. No smell or taste and have tinnitus ?? This virus is as Weird as fuck. It seems to exploit your personal weaknesses. I’ve not had a fever or a cough but my body aches and it feels like I have been thrown down the stairs - my ribs hurt like hell. I’ve never had flu so cannot compare but have not felt this unwell ( all week off work ) for over 10 years. My advice is to stay on the sofa with movies and plenty of fluid - just give yourself time to get better.

Winter bugs/virus/flu always start at this time of year. They have for as long as I can remember
It seems now when people 'test', it shows up as Covid.
I often wonder if we could go back 10 years when we had a winter virus, if it would still show up positive on a Covid test back then?

Lula68 · 22/10/2023 12:20

I doubt it as covid is a complete new virus to humans. It is caused by a different virus than the flu. Covid has killed more people worldwide in 2 years than flu ever did in 10 years because our body could not recognise it as a threat until often it was too late. It will become another bug we will endure every year but like flu we can immunise people thankfully.

Dp had it last week, headache, stomach ache and then a fever the next day that broke after 6 hours or so. Tired the next day went to work the day after so lasted 72 hours tops. He felt really grotty for that short time though, but very short lived. I've caught it off him but because I had the booster, if just got very mild stomachaches and a very low grade fever, I wouldn't have noticed if he hadn't have had it
