Just saw al Lego camper van for sale. Very nice but I nearly spat my tea out when I saw the price. £230+ for a little van! How much do the big buildings etc cost? And who buys them? Sorry I’m just in shock. Tea ……. I think I need a stiff drink 🤣

The millennium falcon Lego set is over 700 quid.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 21/10/2023 01:12

Both lego VW campers are now retired so the prices would've gone up because of the resellers.

The original camper was only about £70 when released.

DH and I were looking at the Death Star one recently and I'm sure it was over £1000 because it's now retired.

Cost about £80 in early 2000’s

Very different sets - there's been about six over the years. The big Falcon set ("Ultimate Collector Series" model 75192) at £700 is nearly 3ft long and 7500 parts. There's a model 75257 more recently that's half that size, 1300 parts, and £150.

Adult collectors buy the big sets. They are great as a relaxation activity. I ask for a nice set pretty much every Christmas as my gift from DH.

There are still sets designed and marketed to children. They are very different in number of pieces and build complexity.

lego makes multiple
camper vans

10279 or 10220 are clearly for adults
children would enjoy 60283 or 31138 and those come in at price points you would expect for toys.

Amazon has a Lego camper van for £12

Ladybird69 · 22/10/2023 21:35

@Ponderingwindow ah that’s good to know thanks. @IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads thanks I will check it out £12 is more my price range and more suitable too 💐

My 9yo saved up and bought himself the Lego rollercoaster over 2 years ago when it was just over £200. It's now retired and is constantly going up in price. If he'd let me sell it, the rest of his Lego and his Thomas trains, I could probably pay off the mortgage 😂😂
He has a smaller campervan - was about £18 and has very cute mini croissants!
