Mirena and my awful mood

I got the Mirena coil a year ago after having 2 polyps removed- the gynae recomended it to prevent further polyps. My periods were okay up to then, no real problems, still regular. First six months of mirena I'd lots of irregular bleeding but it's settled now and still having periods but they're very light.

I'm on mirtazapine for anxiety last 3 years and it's helped. But since I got the mirena, my general mood has gradually got worse and I feel on edge, irritable and angry most of the time. Does anyone know if this could be related to periods getting lighter and hormones affected?

I'm nearly 49.

Hi @MirenaMoody would you consider posting this on the Menopause board? You might get more feedback there.

I have a Mirena for more than a year. It doesn't affect my mood, but not everyone experiences the same thing.

I had the Merina in 5 months ago, the last three weeks I have been having the most severe anxiety to the point where I could not do anything it also bought in intrusive thoughts, I thrive off stress and have had a many turbulent times but have never led to this, nothing has really happened for me to feel this way life was normal, I have literally racked my brains what could have bought this on, and now I’m thinking after doing lots of research it’s the coil !! Calling doctors to have it removed ASAP. Doctor also put me on mirt and beta blockers.
